Anyone else flip from being more interested in the game to now more in the show?
Before starting on the Defiance journey I was pretty hyped for the game and somewhat interested in the show. I figured it would be cool to see them intertwine but the story premise didn't seem that original or intriguing at first. However, having played the game since launch, and now having watched the first 2 episodes of the show - I could easily see me continuing to watch the show while dropping out of the game part of it. For me the game has been pretty disappointing, but the show has been surprisingly good. Anyone else feel similar?

I like the game even in its current form - it will only get better -, and the show is better than expected - it's actually quite good thus far. I'll continue with both.

I think the show has been good so far. Kind of hoping the game improves as the show moves along though.

I really loved the game but now burnt out.

I finally realized "where are the mods" and "I don't want to grind simpleton missions for rep to gamble for mods" and I am on PC... our chat system is crap.

i was expecting the show to be average at best. i dont usually watch syfy tv because to be honest i think its poo. with 1 or 2 shining stars. the show suprised me. i think its great and find myself looking more forward to this season.

the game....im over it. i was under the impression that we would get more content updated along with the show. 2 shows down, just a few bogus pursuits. the points people compare it to borderlands it looses. the loot/weapons suck with no difference in lvl/stats. sure it says 1-10,000 online for multiplayer but you can only play in groups of 4 unless you want to grind non challenging ark falls that give bad loot all day. the pvp is the biggest joke of all. trion, if your gonna have more than shadow wars for pvp. give us more than tdm and 2 maps, or just dont give us anything.

i dont think im gonna buy the dlc either. why do i need it for diff guns that will just have the same stats as the ones i have? or a new area with the same ol missions turning off generators. i had very high hopes for this game. dont get me wrong its worth a 1 time playthrough. but after that you are left wanting more. i will be trading it in, but the show will be on my watch list for a looong while

Yeah I feel very similar in a lot of ways.

Only because the game in its current state is even more shallow than the show.

Eh I'm kind of at 50-50 right now taking a break from the game certainly kindled my "passion" for it but playing it again then I feel like watching the show. So I guess I'm teetering back and forth depending on what I'm doing.

game is good for a casual player.

Personally I have nothing else to do in it by grinding achievements which imo should just come over time with new content

I feel same way, at first hardly had any interest in show and was hyped about the game, now I'm really enjoying show and playing game less. Buying dead island riptide tomorrow and going to play that until more content is released.

Yup, initially the show was something to do on the side and maintenance time but now the game is basically done until new content then will get sporadic spikes in player base for a week or two every couple months.

There is nothing MMO about the game as of now its more of a group dungeon crawler. Cant even make groups beyond 4 nor is there anything that takes large group effort to accomplish (including major arks).

Having watched both episodes now, I'm hoping it gets better. The plots seem a little disjointed and I haven't found any of the characters to be particularly likable. That being said though, I find the production work and the acting to be outstanding. Kudos to the crew. Its kind of nice to have something to watch that was actually written and acted by professionals as opposed to the reality TV drivel that permeates the airwaves these days.

I'm not really a scifi nut, so I didn't expect to like the show as much as I did. But I also like it as much as I do because it gives me more to know about the game world.
And the game gives me great gameplay (despite all it's bugs, lack of challenges, 'that chat' and UI that defies QoL) and more information about the wold the show's set in.

In a way the tie in of game and show already worked for me to be honest, simply because you learn more about the made up New Earth in two different ways.

    Yes.

I thought it would be the opposite, but my interest in the TV show is growing and I am already bored with the game.

I am in the same boat. I like the game, log in nightly even if it's for just a little bit. But I do play MWO and GW2 as well as this and don't have clones of me to play all three simultaneously.

I would have to say that's how it is for me.

And not simply because the show got better (only episode 3 now).
It's cause the game got worse and worse.

the pilot was hard to watch but I thoroughly enjoyed the second show with the whole religion thing, the third episode was also very good, I like where the show is going.

I had high expectations of the game, and low expectations from the show. The show started out as a SciFi hotdog, lots of bits from a bunch of animals all squeezed together. But now I am enjoying it, past two episodes were better than the pilot.

The game, I was expecting alot out of, and it delivered alot of good and bad. Weird choices plague this game (weapon leveling, gear progression, enemy AI [seriously jelly when a raider snipes me from 400 meters away with a smg], ect.), but over all I keep playing and do not have a lack of things to do during my game time. I enjoy the game.

Over all 8/10 game, 8/10 show. Gimme a big patch with a bunch of bug fixes, and an episode where Nolan uses an infector on some Dark Matter, and I'm a happy man.

The show's just kinda meh for me.... if Julie Benz wasn't in it i probably wouldn't still be watching it. Kinda getting this way about the game now too with not a great endgame strategy by Trion.

This. I am choosing to enjoy both. Why not?

Find the show to be mediocre at best
Sorry all, but I the title says it all. I have no idea where they are going with the show, the acting is very uneven, none of the characters are very engaging, etc. Unfortunately, the game has run out of content for me. I am on my second playthrough, and I am struggling to stay engaged. Game 7/10, Show 5/10.

The two have a casual relationship for me. I'm behind on the show, have only seen the pilot - have to wait for my wife to be around to catch up. I'm not really hung up on differences between the two, and any connection is enjoyable.

Though I think I would like a "coldfire weapon" at some point...

Have not flipped since I was looking forward to both. The show is good but I am not getting my hopes up. SyFy has a reputation of cancelling good/great scifi shows (e.g. Farscape). I do like that I can watch the show and then pop into the game and get a taste/whiff of what I just saw.
