Where do you see this game in a years time?
I've been playing this game since just after release and have been really enjoying the game but my question is where do you think this game will be a year from now?
I imagine DLC will have been release and there might be a season 2 of Defiance but I personally feel, although the game is enjoyable, it could get stale. Saying that the DLC could bring something completely new to the table and keep it alive.
    What are your thoughts?

It'll be a better and much more complete game.

Defiance is already locked in for a second season, and by then the game will have most of the major bugs ironed out (hopefully lol) and probably lots of DLC to expand on the game world. Let's be honest, the game is still a beta, they just ran out of time and had to launch it to coincide with the launch of the show.

They also hinted at the possibility of the game being on next-gen consoles, too.

    I really hope you're right.
I see you what you mean about the beta.

If they release it on next gen the only problem then would be will they allow console cross overs as personally I wouldn't want to buy a new console and copy of the game just to stay up to date.

I'm sure both platforms would be supported. For instance, games like Diablo III and Destiny are launching simultaneously on PS3 and PS4. If you wanted to play Defiance on next-gen consoles, you would have to buy the game again most likely but I am sure they would allow you to transfer your characters over and whatnot.

I think it all depends on how often Trion keeps filling the game with new content. I haven't been playing this game that long, and I am already impressed by how well they seem to be supporting their game. It's also refreshing to see how often this development team keeps their audience updated with information.

In a years time I don't know, it'll either be in my xbox spinning around whilst I play or it will be on my table awaiting the placement of my cup. lol :p

Depends though it's only been out a few weeks let see what they do with it and see where they take it. :)

I love the game but in a years time? I honestly couldn't say. I do think Defiance will keep me going up until Septemeber which is when GTA V is released but after that, all my games including Defiance will be collecting dust.

I think the bugs are something we just have to be patient with, they have a lot on their plate at Trion.

In a years time a lot could happen but if they do intend to feed it episodes from the syfy series. I would still play it I stick to things I like I love the DW series and I am happy to get it in July if it is released. I still play the games I already beat if I like them enough. So in a year I can still see playing it if Trion still adds to it that be great. I can't 100% sure but as of now I will go with that.

I think that unless this game has amazing DLC or much better PVP then itl be dead.

I think we'll all be runnin around the huge blocked off section of the map (to left)... can't wait to see what that place will look like ...hope the VOLG reside up there. We'll also be zoomin around in more various vehicles *cough* dirtbikes *cough* harleys

with rumors of DEFIANCE going next-gen. I'll probably switch over to that version.

I'm sure there will be more areas, whether it's the massive greyed out area though remains to be seen.
Dirt Bikes would definitely make me play longer.

Unfortunately I do not expect greatness from this game anymore. I believe that if the game continues in the direction it is going, (Down the toilet due to bad communication, lack of content, bugs, and hacking) it will also bring the TV series down tremendously, look at all the trolls on here already. Criticism is great and I am all for it. I do hope for the best but I am prepared for the worst.

I think going multi platform was a mistake, nothing I can do about it now. I hate to say this also because it is going to butt hurt some people, but if I was in charge I would cut the console MMO aspect, and focus on the PC version. Keep it a solo game with DLC for the consoles. I think it would be better than going the jack of all trades route and a master of none.

I do enjoy the shooting mechanic of the game, the ego matrix, and pursuits. There are just far better free to play games out there that specialize in certain areas better than this one. I will still play because of the show, and the campaign was worth my 60 bucks for me already.

Game will be fine by the first anniversary.

Consoles will have a much larger playerbase than the PC will.

It all depends on the quality of the content released I think. If the new content just consists of collect-a-thons like the armistice day stuff then I see this game dying very fast for those who have been there since launch. However new co-op and PvP maps and compelling new missions fleshing out the world and characters more without having to just "press X to interact" would do much to extend the life of the game.

We need more modes, both PvP and PvE! Capture the flag on a Shadow Wars sized map! Dedicated Horde mode! More dependence on co-op mechanics instead of just shoot-banging together on a long hallway!

I don't know where this will be in a year. Personally i'll either be using a ps4 or back in pc gaming. This is a pretty incredible mmo for how old and outdated the xbox is in it's computer parts. The question is will xbox-next be worse than the ps4 in terms of hardware or will they blow ps4 out of the water.

FFXI seems to still have a big fan base and it's on ps2 tech. What will kill defiance is lack of cross platform and the fact that it can't really be done as it's skill based and no one can argue that keyboard and mouse will always be faster and more accurate than a controller.

I expect to see a crafting system and a lot of neat extras but this game is still a baby and has a long way to grow. The biggest complainers flock to forums and make a big deal over things that have been seen before countless times. This game will be a lot more fun later but have the same content. New content will show up for each season but everything depends on if the show will stay alive or die like firefly. Let's just hope Fox goes down the toilet and eats itself because they are really good at canceling the best shows and keeping the worst crap ever created last countless seasons (sorry matt groening but the only reason the simpsons are still around is because the show turned to crap). Firefly, Fringe and Futurama are a few I can name. SyFy also has a good history of crappy stuff but lets hope Defiance stays because it's starting to look like an incredible show and the game will only last as long as the show.

Consoles already have a larger player base then the PC does, this is why the PC script kiddies hate us, simply because a Console which costs less and has limited technology (for now) out shines the 'Master Race'. Not for performance but for convenience, the PS3 is right up there also. Obviously some people are going to disagree but I digress.

As someone else mentioned earlier about the size of the map in Defiance, it's obviously going to expland due to the mass of space you can see when viewing it. I do think the Volge will make an appearance at some point also.

To be honest, i don't see this game lasting for over 3yrs.
    (hope i'm wrong)

Reason being is, at this point, it just seems like a medicore Borderlands 3ps.
That, and since the MMO aspect is missing with player interactions etc. May as well just throw it in the line up with other medicore 3ps games. Hence, i don't see the longevity of the game.

Well I have seen quite a few threads on this issue here recently. I love this game. It has amazing potential. However I think a few things need to happen to ensure it's success.

    1. Coincide with the show. If we start having DLC that coincides with that season would be a tremendous boost to game play. Peeps will feel that every Monday night they will learn and advance their toons a little more.
    2. They will need some other form of income to maintain a basically free to play game. Like bits for outfits...bits for uniques...anything they can do to earn MS points. Take a lesson from god awful stuff like Evony. People are vain about their toons and will pay ungodly sums to make them look"cool". Development isn't cheap and I think if they get this sooner rather than later we will see better results.
    3. Most importantly really is FIX SOCIAL...Peeps like to play with peeps...And talk to them. We will over look alot of funkyness just as long as we can share said funkyness.
    4. OHHHHH AND YOU ***** NEED TO QUIT KEEPING CRITICAL DATA CLIENT SIDE. THE PERSON WHO DECIDED THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN OUTBACK AND SHOT. HACKER INVASION STOPPED....I want a medal...lol

We are a fickle group of people constantly looking for a new fix. Some may stay but newer games and experiences will tempt us all.
Defiance is groundbreaking for 360 owners. So whats to come from other developers? Right now I can name at least two new mmo's

On the used game shelf at Gamestop. There's not that many people playing it now, it only sold 275k on xbox360 and they probably lost at least half by now. The next major release will probably knock the playing population down to just the suckers who bought the season pass.

Yeah, I'm of the opinion that it will all depend on the released content. Doing little things as the TV Series goes by is neat and all, but if it is just a few little fetch quests, handful of missions, it won't be enough to keep people playing. Myself? I've already completed the main storyline, and about halfway through with the other side missions. Sure, there are time trials and hotshots to gold, but I like story.

More storylines, maybe an area specifically designed for those hardcore players that are looking for more of a challenge, could go quite a ways in keeping interest. Crafting could be something, they do have that Gulanite...of whatever it is. Players could spend time mining if that's their thing.

But hey, I'm still having fun, and I'll keep playing while it's fun for me. I don't trade away games, so I can always pop back on and see what all's going on.

May your bullets and scrip always be plentiful.

I agree. MMOs are works in progress. I played FFXI from NA release up until 2011. First day playing vs 389 day playing was way different bug, content and update wise. I see this game growing into a great MMOTPS

Yeah, we'll be waiting months until we have something that even resembles a finished project. It has potential, but there's so much that could go wrong.

Currently the story is short and the level cap not to hard to reach for, but if you think of how a pc mmo works out then you can easily imagine huge expansion promotions and holiday events for the loyal players ;3 there may be a $60 price tag on the game to begin with but don't forget that after that they are giving us a free ride through alot of content that can be repeated with all your friends xD whatever comes in the future for this game, I look forward to enjoying it! (Unless they bring pandas and kung-fu into the game ~troll face?~)

If the game doesn't brush up on social features, IE: Fix chat, Add town, then it'll be collecting dust while I play Destiny or BF4. Enjoying the moment though.

Probably in my xbox. The game does need some new modes though, with a bigger focus of the Massive part of MMO.
