Yes, 'hellbugs vs raiders' takes place at the 3rd turret of Aegis Defense I.
I'm a bit sad that I did all the side missions including this one, so now I can't get all the mobs to spawn and abandon the mission to do repeat it. :-/

Dude! I was totally there... or at least I've done that side mission and the exact same thing happened to me... only for me, I was mopping up what I thought was the last of a bunch of raiders before the 3rd turret and suddenly a Hulker came sprinting into the middle of the fight.
After turning my attention to the Hulker (which someone else was chasing down it seems) some skitterlings started popping. I thought, great, just what I need, death from every angle. The Hulker went down pretty fast, and the skitterlings were now being dealt with by a new bunch of raiders. A few were still taunting me so I couldn't repair the turret so I turned my full attention to the raiders just in time to see a number of archers and warriors pop up.
All out war erupts again as the raiders and the hellbugs start in on each other, with me squarely in the middle. It's about this time that I notice another Hulker throwing bombs, and royally destroying the hellbugs. So I side with the bugs and give the raiders hell (taking out at one point a group of 5 elite blasters). After about half an hour of all out war it comes to a head with me being chased by a hulker and monarch while they exchange blows in their fight to be the one that gets to make an omelette out of me >.<
The Hulker won the rights to my head after dispatching the monarch, and I'm backed up by another player to help take down the remaining Hulker...
Despite gaining very little out of the whole ordeal, that was the most fun I've had on Defiance so far (with first encounter of Motherlode now trailing behind) Bring on some more of this, it was fantastic!
I did Aegis defense 1 with another player. As we reached the fourth turret (ran past a bunch of raiders) we saw the hulker. It was fighting a bunch of hellbugs including a monarch, so we start blasting away. Now the raiders from the trucks (that I ran past) started swarming in, obviously they wanted to join in! Then of course.. the swarm of hellbugs came.. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand... on top of that a raider arkfall spawned.. as well as more raiders spawning from the trucks further down the road! It was complete and utter madness.. but it was one of the best moments in the game so far!
I'm suprised we got out of there alive!
Did that area a few days ago for the contract involving hulkers...Oh, the things you hear on Vent when the hellbug swarm appeared from the roadblock.
No but I have seen two mini-gunners r@ping 3 boars or plows while two mutant soldiers were trying to save the plows.
I even have a vid of it no kidding
Yeah seen it couple of times UNTIL I come in and shot 1 of them and of no where they decided to double team on me :( just not fair.
The Hulker has a huge advantage over any other creature, it can one hit anything (thats not a player, for some reason), i have seen this Hulker one hit kill Arkfall/crystals on 2 occasions bugging the entire event out. Then again, this area is the best area for all out chaos and FUN so if they really have removed the Hulker then its going to be a bit more boring, i bet it was the Monarch that put in the bug report :P
I just did this last night. Almost identical experience to the OP except that I turned the turret on. That helped quite a bit taking the big guy down :D
Oh and there is another mission not far away where another hulker is taking out a bunch of hellbugs in a field while you repair some irrigation equipment. Much harder to deal with solo as there is almost nowhere to hide.
Uhm... they haven't patched it yet. If they even are. I did that quest on a character just last night. And the Hulker and the Monarch were both there. I wouldn't even think it was a bug since you see raiders fighting hellbugs throughout that quest. Looks intentional.Quote:

Hulker can 1 shot an arkfall boss it was hilarious. 40-50 people around and he took it form half hp to dead :D
