My gamestop here in town just got a new girl who, and I quote: "Doesnt like... play video games. She's like... just there for like... a summer job. Like, isnt that what people have like... phones for." I mean seriously?!

I don't see that as a problem at all. In fact, I think I prefer it when a CSR doesn't deal with what they sell (On this scale. Selling a car? Completely different!)

I know that CSR is going to grab my item, ring me up, and I'll be out of there in three minutes or less because they aren't going to try and pretend they're an aficionado on the product I'm purchasing.

he then said they didn't have it used... but told me to pick it up used because the game recieved poor reviews and there was a good chance i wouldn't like it.
i let him know it was for my brother.
he said..."well then, i'm sure your brother isn't going to like it... like i'm positive he wont like it."
"na, we both played my copy at my house the other night... he really seems to enjoy it. reviews dont matter." i said.
then he went on to basically say, yeah right... the game is a mess and only console players will fall for the games geekish marketing schemes. sci fi nerds and such.
    WTF.
i asked him why noone has returned the game if it sucked so bad and he concluded that the game wasn't worth bringing in because of its resale value.
i bought my second copy this week.
as i walked out he said, "you'll be back"
gamestop really needs to hire new people around here.
    what a crap experience.

i get gamestop employes that say that to me, but not on that line of ignorant just some where close to that

I don't mind when sales people offer suggestions, I do however mind when they are rude, obnoxious and claim to know something they don't.

I have no problem with someone who doesn't know and tells me so, but don't freakin' lie to me and don't tell me what I want is a piece of crap - now you're stepping over the line ;)

I really can't stand the way so many GameStop employees try to push review scores. I don't know if this is part of their job or if the job just attracts people like this, but it gets really old. It seems like every time I go into one (which really isn't that often) someone constantly pops up out of nowhere to tell me that the game I'm looking at is "crap" or something. Funny thing is, some of the best gaming experiences I've had have come from not listening to these dolts. This isn't a slam against all GS people..I know it's just a job and some of the people are pretty cool, but I hate the fakey "hardcore gamer" types that just won't lay off.

Gamestop always has pompous nerds. I like to troll them about their constant misinfo like they had a sign up for gw2 june something when it was already stated would be august release, so i'd always ask them when gw2 was coming out lol

So in other words... a relatively normal GameStop experience minus the 1,938,291 demands you pre-order something. Coincidentally enough I purchased my copy from one out of desperation due to everyone else either being sold out or not carrying it at all. After the exchange the female clerk seemed beyond surprised after she wished me a good day that I immediately extended the same courtesy to her. I swore with the look on her face you would have thought she met an alien who just taught her how to dougie.

I could only imagine the horrors she's seen before someone semi-normal like me walked through the door.

Moral of the story: Some GS employees get just as good as give and then some. Retail sucks (usually for damn near everyone involved).

that's the problem. they are fake gamers. they work with games so much, and talk about games so much... they actually cringe when people come in talking about games. they definitely dont play games as much as they claim... and the majority of the time these people are talking crap on you behind your back. they all seem to hate you because you came in. "you dont want that... you want hitman absolution." i buy it... return it. what the frick?!!!! that game sucked! "i'm loving it" yeah well, they pay you to say you love it... they make you sell these games because gamestop makes money off of people returning new games. you pay 65 bucks, get 17 back. rip off. then they sell it used for 5 less than the new price and pray someone buys it used and doesn't return it within the 7 days. it's a scam! that place is such a scam. i'm sorry but someone who play's flight simulators all day on their rig is not a gamer... they are an aspiring pilot. dumb$$es the lot of them.

The funny thing is the OP wasn't a customer yet ... it seems the clerk tried very hard to not sell anything, somehow I don't think his boss would like that a lot.

So your saying your ok with purchasing a product you know absolutely nothing about from people that no absolutely nothing about it and no one around to answer a single question about it? With all due respect, thats not being a very smart consumer. From what I get out of it, the review scores cant be trusted, the retailers know nothing about their product, and internet forums are equal parts haters and fanboys... where are you supposed to get product information from? I personally am not ok with buying a product I have no prior information on.
