looking at the updated Arkfall COE, I feel you should remove the grenade part, for the simple reason of a perk called "Deadly Cascade" now obvously some don't realize when a skit bites the arkfall, it then falls back and enters a cocoon which it then morphs into ether an archer, or a warrior, here's the issue.
Major Arkfalls have hundreds of people sometimes, inside minor zones, this can cause lag, and makes skitterlings ignore making a cacoon and instead insta-transform into a warrior or an archer... also:

Why? The game uses number of people in the arkfall radius to determine it's difficulty, this difficulty is dynamic and changes with each radial burst. It also determines the life of the crystal itself, by minimizing the number to 10, the Monarch never spawns at the final burst. Anymore then 10, and it consistently occurs. It also lowers lag during minors, and let's them be beaten faster.
