I bought the UE from Gamestop, and I do have to say that I have a bit of buyer's remorse. I do enjoy the game, but I wish that I would have bought the standard edition (and the season pass separately). I was disappointed that (1) all of the pre-order exclusives were made available on the marketplace and (2) none of the "exclusives" were actually exclusive, and could be obtained in-game (in one form or another).
Only paid $60.00, and got my money worth twice over.
Where can u see hours played?
yeah. in terms of satisfaction. bought UE.
now that we are +30 days from release, how the hell can folks be whining about content? it's a TPS that has a main storyline (that is kinda lame and repeatable, if you so choose) there are a mind-numbing amount of repetitive "emergencies" or "random encounters" and a fair amount of side missions to go along with the main mission. that's all part of the immersed single-player option. Add the multiple co-op maps, and the variety of pvp maps and shadow war ( which I haven't bothered with yet, because it was, well... kinda borked).
It took me about a month of regular play of a few hours a night, to do every side and main mission, ending with a 600something EGO rating. Now, when I step back and look at the product as a whole... a mmo (NOT MMORPG) that allows folks with PC/Xbox/PS3 to cohabitate and share the same areas? share experience?
the more I think on that, the more impressive of a feat that this title is. and the more amazed I get at all the CRAIng and Troling I see about how much this title did not meet the hype...so It sucks.
even this thread, I see a majority of folks one month in have enjoyed themselves, although are skeptical(and rightly so) about giving future funds, but are hopeful that this technological achievement will be honed and improved over time.
Yes.
Next question ?
Trade in Defiance how? This is an mmo with an account bound key. There is no trade in silly console kiddies.
I got deluxe edition and the 5 season dlc pack. I also spent to this point $600 or more on getting KTAM Radio up and running.
More than worth it. So for those whining, I think you need some perspective of what you got vs what is still coming. Bugs are being fixed, content being released and some was delayed to fix bugs first and stabilize servers. Go back into the forums a few weeks and see what people complained about, then look at today's. very very different and you see how worse things were vs not getting the right colour suit. These complaints are frivolous when you compare to launch week, proof the game is being worked on, updated and fixed.
Try interacting With the community more and not just login on to pi$$ and moan about stupid shtako. contact support if you have an issue and get it fixed. Don't post here whining because you didn't open a ticket. There is a lot more content as part of the game and community than what is just in the game, that is part of what makes an mmo, the community, other people. If you play defiance like it is a single player game you will get bored and you have not one to blame but your self.
Not saying there shouldn't be more content, but I rather have the game working than a bunch of new content that isn't and then having to come here and read all the self entitlement threads.
I got my moneys worth and it's a hell of a lot more than anyone else's posting on here.
i'm glad you dig the game, and i get what you're saying, but ironically, for me you used 2 adjectives in your defense that actually coincide with my personal feelings (and many others) after only being a month in...
"mind numbing" and "repetitive"
i hate to say it, because i was really looking forward to the game's release and now when i think about logging in those 2 phrases keep popping up. i'm not saying your wrong, because it's a matter of opinion, but there are quite a few people out there who, objectively, are very disappointed in, what we perceive as, a shallowness of content, and frustration with poor patches and a lot of bugs.
one man's treasure can be another man's gold...but for my end, the glamour of the concept has worn off and, imho, the want for better execution has derailed my enjoyment of the game.
though i still admit, by and large, the combat mechanics are awesome
heh what mmo doesn't have those adjectives chained to most actions? timesink stuff.
Shallow? oh yeah. about as shallow as those episodes on TV... subjective perception is most of what this title is. There are WAY too many fanbois, and way too many haters, that are vocal.
and don't hate to say it, man. it's what you are experiencing. that makes it valid. what I have been finding is that most of the complaints have been about very subjective things, and few objective things.
like folks that are having a log in error. yes. they are having an error. but is everyone? what localization are they using? what platform are they on? rather than talk to support (I have never needed to yet, and I have heard mixed things about Support's timeliness and competency) they come here and ***** about how they can't get in and how this just sucks. There's a big difference between a "wah, I can't get in" compared to a "crit error on patcher, xbox, EU. this sucks, fix it" type of post, yanno?
and yes. that goes down that slippery slope of " I didn't pay to be a tester" well... unfortunately, I haven't seen a fully polished single or multiplayer title since I can't remember when, and mmo's were/are the worst offenders of that.
and while I was a relative latecomer (I didn't even hear about the title until around the time of just after the 1st beta), and been selected for 3rd beta (whch was less a beta and more a stress-test), alot of those vids I saw, with the potential really roped me in. and I agree.. I am sad that the game was not released with the potential that it could have been. but, that's not to say it won't get there. and even if it doesn't? the key point was that for what it is, and what you spent in time and money, was it worth it?
and I feel your pain on the want for better execution. unfortunately, I have placed alot of that pain on the nature of change and being out of a comfort zone as a player ( hated the UI, Hated that text chat was so limited, hated that it was so obviously a "console port"), and then I realized that this is new and different IP we are looking at. if there is going to become a standard for multi-platform persistent world titles, we have been experiencing it's painful origin. and, in that context, it hasn't really been all that bad.
doesn't take away the dissappointment of expectation, however.
=)
Two copies of the $99 digital Deluxe
Two copies of the $39 DLC
Twice purchased $50 bit
For a total of $380. And yes, i feel my wife and I both got our moneys worth from the game and future content for this game to come.
THANK YOU TRION!
paid $60 & NOPE didnt' get what paid for YET
will say YET due to holding out the slimmest bit of hope eventually Trion fixes the mess it charged us $60 to alpha test
You may not be able to get the red one, but there are plenty of other challengers in the game, and the pre-order items are nothing special. They are just uniquely named versions of items that can be obtained in-game.
VBI Sentinel Shield = Respark
Sporeshot = VOT Infector
The same goes for the outfits. I've seen at least one reskin of every pre-order outfit.
I just feel like I didn't pay for anything special.
Right on Mylo! good post, thx for the respectful reply!
What is this 'DLC' I read about?
Hmm well the way I see it. Paying $60 for the game and buying the past and having already put 240+ hours and still seeing myself putting much more. I have gotten more than my moneys worth
I have paid ~100€ per accounts and it's worth it :) (two preorder-deluxe edition + 2 season pass)
Almost 600h of playing on PC for the moment.
Already played the main story twice.
For 60 dollars, yes I believe I've so far gotten my money's worth out of it. I don't know how much I've exactly played but it's the only game I've been playing since it has come out so it has been quite a bit. I find it somehow addicting.
I paid $60 and both my daughter and I play. We have put in more than enough hours to think this is costing us less than $1 an hour. That is cheap entertainment anywhere.
Absolutely, without a doubt, I have got my moneys worth. I, personally, am loving the game, the world and the show. I am on 360. Never been into MMOs because of sub fee's. I refuse to pay a monthly fee to play a game that I paid $60+ for. I will be spending a lot of time on Defiance. They will be adding and updating constantly.
I don't see why this game is getting so much hate other than this is typical consumer behavior for EVERY release now a days. Gamers are going to destroy the industry by being to damn whiny. Have some ****in patience for the good Developers. There aren't a **** ton of them out there and TRION is one of the good ones. Some of these people need to call whine one one and take a long ride on the wah-mbulance.
Feel free to create a ad, or even something as simple as a station ID "Hi this is <your name here> and you are listening to KTAM"
We accept all submitted content, we play what we can which so far has been almost all of it. If you have some creative ideas welike to hear them and help you run with them.
Wait. Being on Xbox, don't you have to have Xbox Live Time to play online? Don't you need that XBL time to play Defiance? If so, then you are paying a subscription, since you are paying for (1) the internet connection itself and (2) the XBL price. Same as us normal PC MMO guys that would pay for our internet and then a specific MMO subscription.
If you don't need XBL, then good. I'm glad. Otherwise, you'd be paying extra than us PC or those PS3 guys to play this game.
Come on guy. I pay for XBLA regardless so NO I am not paying a sub fee for Defiance. If I didn't have XBLA, I would not get it to play one game. If people choose to do so, that is their choice but they are still paying the sub fee for XBLA not Defiance. Trion Worlds doesn't make the rules for XBox. They abide by them, same as me. Your argument is simply incorrect.
Also, I have the internet because I do MANY different things on it, as does everyone else that has it. You are being ridiculous by trying to act like people are paying for the internet just to play this game or ANY single game for that matter. Do you only use your internet to play one game? Have you been living under a rock, without the internet, until this game came out and then you thought, ah gee now I have to get the internet to play this game? **** NO. So quit with the lame kids arguments.
I bought the ultimate edition and feel what I got was a beta version of a game which has a lot of anoying bugs. So NO I do not feel as though I got my moneys worth.
Add to this the fact that some of the items we were given as part of the ultimate is either not what was alluded to on the packaging or the item has been exchanged for something else after a game patch. Give me back my black bug cap and take your glasses back Trion!
Things get worse when you consider the fact that the season pass is for the first year of game time only, so the longer the bugs continue and gameplay is held up, the less time the season pass will cover. I suspect Trion will spend the first six months fixing bugs as the game should not have been given to the masses until it was fully playable with the current content. I am just worried that what Trion considers to be additional game content amounts to nothing more than a few missions and some new players skins and maybe a couple of additional coop maps.
The season pass covers 5 DLC's.
Actually, I'm not a kid. I'm a 40 year old business owner.
That said, I don't play Xbox. Never have, never will. Don't play PS3 either. I simply do not like consoles. They were fun when I was a kid, but outside of MMOs, I don't video game at all. I have better things to do with my time.
So take your insults and shove them up your ***. I was asking a legitimate question, not being familiar with XBL outside of seeing the cards in WalMart. That's why I was asking you, an Xbox player. But I see the console jerks are in this game same as they were in DCUO.
Well then, that makes it even worse because you should know better than to present such straw man arguments. You weren't asking anything. You were trying to say that me having XBL is having to pay a sub fee to play the game. Don't get mad at me bro, I was simply showing you how stupid and baseless that argument is.
Funny, the PC elitist trash talking console players. Typical PC player attitude.
No. Not at all. I feel like I payed $60 for a game that is still in alpha stage (bit over-exaggerated), considering I CAN'T START MY GAME. I've contacted 2 live chat GM's, neither of them helped at ALL.
