The game is not P2W, the 18 items you get for $300 are all cosmetic. Unique mount, unique pet, flaming weapon enchantment, extra inv space and some clothes; all cosmetic. Now you do get 2m in in-game currency but from what I've seen anyone can farm that so it's more of a time saver and you'll need way more then that by endgame. The items that some people are saying are P2W in the cash shop ie max health potions and revive scrolls only work in PVE not PVP so not a big deal IMO. Also note that in-game currency can be traded for cash shop currency so no one has to spend actual cash, they just need to farm. In your logic even a game where you could use a 3rd party site to buy in-game currency would be P2W, people will always find a way to make things easier, they do not always "win"

I just find it funny that 2 supposedly F2P games are offering some nice stuff for "founders" program which on both games cost $200.

Neverwinter it's Being able to play a Renegade Drow and have a Drow Spider Mount
Marvel Heros - It's specific costumes for certain characters not obtainable by any other means and starting the game with essentially every hero/costume from the get go.

I'll stick with defiance and SWToR for the most part.

neverwinter it's a p2w, if you use $ for buy zen you will get huge advantage, like the fact to buy more crystal, get more bag, more bank slot.
you can get the crystal ingame, but it's 24.000 per day when you see some stuff are sold at the AH around 2.000.000, well you get the point.

me i'm waiting more FF14 and Wildstar, elder scroll i have a bad feeling about this one.

PWE (Neverwinter company, forget Cryptic they were just the workhorses, PWE is what makes the rules) is p2w - always has been and always will be. The cash shop prices are ridiculous, and you must pay for crafting items only available from cash shop if you want to make the only good things crafting makes, and you need to pay real money for the things that stop your enchantments breaking when you fuse them (can't fuse L60 enchantments at 1% chance to fuse without those cash shop items).

They just make the early game seem forgiving so you get hooked (they act like a drug dealer) then make endgame punishing and require a cash shop.

A half-designed game with substandard support, or pay 2 win. Talk about "pick your poison."

My approach is play Neverwinter entirely for free (don't spend a cent there), and play this game as well with the hopes they can make it right. Other than that, a couple other games in development (currently in beta, and mentioned in this thread) look like they might be of interest.

I decided to try Neverwinter today. After the excruciatingly slow download, I still haven't received the confirmation email to finish setting up my account.

The forums do not like the cash shop. You have to pay for respecs. Ugh.

My opinion of the differences is simple, defiance added three points of payment most games only have one or two, i am quite surprised there isnt a sub as well tbh.

    Defiance:
client side content (completely hackable game)
    Cash shop in game
    Pay for game client
    Pay for expansions

    Neverwinter
    Lag ( for me)
    Cash shop in game
    User created content
not claiming to be a retail version of game (even if its purely semantics at least they admit its not finished)

in your 40's inventory begins to be a chore, even with 3 of the cash shop bags. they give you what? 16 bank slots?
