It would make sense now as why the devs over here suddenly went on silent mode.
Was the same last year just before Funcom had to let go of half their staff.

Hints and Tips of the day:

-You cannot release an MMO in an early Beta prototype state any more these days, players won't let it pass.
-For a game to be financially successful, you need to open your micro store filled with tons of what players want, and not almost empty with items you can already find in game for free.
-You need to have a good tech team that understand the game, its core, how it has been made, and how to fix it right away when needed.
-You need a very good marketing team, that will promote the game, with real advertisement, and then make 100% sure that what this team posted, advertised, and sold is in fact what you will give to all your customers when they will buy your product and services.
-You need to stay honest with them, not telling them stories, not making them wait on promises, but to deliver the product you showed them in the 1st place, as without your customers, you do not have any product to sell.
Players are the only reason why you have a game in the 1st place, no players, no game. Plain and simple.
Players are your customers, as they have bought your product and will continue shopping and spend at your place, if they are truly satisfied and happy.
-Your customers will leave and will not come back if you give them a bad product to begin with.
The product can look very appealing, cool, and shiny, but in the end, if its a tiny parcel of what the customer saw in the ad, he or she will be very disappointed and will think twice before buying again from you.
-And last but not least, after you are selling a product to your customers, you need to make 100% sure that they are 100% satisfied with it, by following the sale with a great service. You need to talk to them, stay honest with them, not hiding from them, and tell them what are you going to do to fix the issue and to compensate them for the trouble it caused them.

Actually you know something scarier about all of this? This is like the last thread in the last 48 hours that hasn't been closed and/or deleted for this line of conversation or requesting more open-ended answers from the company.

And you know what, that is pretty much how Trion built their reputation for the past 2 years with Rift. And within a month, the entire Defiance debacle has damaged that reputation. Takes long to build one, takes a fraction of the time to damage or destroy it.

As I said elsewhere, despite the Amazon no-refund on downloadable games, I managed to get one for all three copies for my house. Amazon was quite understanding of the issues with Defiance. Makes me wonder if I wasn't the first to seek a refund from them.

That said, we had 6 people total in Defiance, and all six have now taken the Defiance refund (mine is processing to my bank, three of them already got it back in their accounts), and have joined me and the wife over in Rift. They already see the day and night difference between the two teams, just from reading patch notes and updates over there.

So, while we've jumped ship off of Defiance, we haven't jumped off of Trion. They are getting our money, and really more of it due to Rift being monthly subscription based. Maybe down the line, say 6 months or a year, if the Defiance team can fix this mess, we'll purchase new copies and revisit it. As it stands right now, the Defiance team has lost our business. For $80m in development, and no doubt with Syfy soon to be breathing down their necks, I truly wish them the best of luck.

    1. Apparently they can, have you read the forums? People still love the game no matter the problems

    2. When you have people so excited to get fluff, and paying alot of money for it, why change it?

    3. Haha well they did market a game, a shi@@ty one, but a game none the less.

    4. Again, when a Dev does make a post on a particular thread, all they could say is "We hear you loud and clear"..and fanboys eat it up thinking that they are listening .

    5. You may want to tell the forum population that, ive been told to quit 6x's this week if i dont like the game. I dont think many realize that if people actually did just up and quit, the game will suffer.

    6. I know this, you know this, but you know how many time ive read someone telling someone else to quit and come back when everything it fixed to their standards? Haha yea that funny indeed!

    7. This is the easy part, they advertised a shooter mmo in 2013, buit what we got was a dumbed down product with yr 2006 problems, and yr 2000 game fundamentals.

There is no way this game cost $80 million to make. I smell embezzlement. APB all over again.

It is because they cannot delete them all, so far in the last week, i saw tons of threads being deleted, just like that in a flash, without any messages, valuable reasons, and without any explanations whatsoever, afte those threads has been closed.

But there is something new that is emerging now...
Forbes magazine made a lot of us realized, that something doesn't add up at all.

It is almost totally impossible, that after more than 5 full years + 105 million budget for the game alone, and more than 150 devs working on the project itself, then still charging us $50, $100 or $150 to all players on top of that, that what we received in the end is an early Alpha prototype state game so small... It's simply impossible man.

Where did all that fortune went? Who managed it? and how come all the threads talking about it, are going missing or being deleted one after another? I don't know, but one thing i DO know my friend.
I did not pay for a prototype, and i want my Defiance game.
