PC here. First I hate racing games because I'm awful at them. Unless I have a steering wheel rig setup then it's awesome. Hmm, that's an idea. Anyways, ran the race over and over for an hour got bronze and 1 silver barely at 4:05. Gotta shave 20 seconds off that to make Gold. Maybe I could "trade in" my 50 bronze medals and my 1 silver for a gold...
Just had a couple of cracks at it and got silver both times because I get a little lag all through the race and the uneven terrain can send me into a spin if I over compensate for lag. I don't know if it's server lag because I'm in AUS or game lag and I need to clean some dust out of my PC, I'm guessing a bit of both.
So I guess people with lag issues miss out? Unless I heard correctly that these Dodge vehicles will appear on the "random 500 scrip sales" meaning if you're patient and lucky enough you can buy them for HEAPS cheaper and save your monitor from your fists trying to win gold in a silly race for over-priced mounts :D
I have done a few runs now, keep missing by 2 or 3 seconds. (PC with Keyboard)
What gets me is when the rings don't appear in front of you in time and you have to guess which way they are going to be. It's also a little disconcerting when your car disappears. Seems to happen at the same spot each time so I assume it is some kind of server switch.
Quit being so dramatic! :)
This isn't a complicated racing sim, controllers aren't really that much better for racing, you just have to learn how to use your MKB... but more importantly you have to understand the mechanics in the game.
You are racing against the clock and this race lets you boost nearly the entire time however that doesn't mean you should be boosting the entire time. If you miss a ring and have to backtrack for more than 2-3 seconds your shot at gold is probably gone, at that point hop out of your car and force the reset. There is no point in finishing the race unless you are still trying to memorize the path.
Once you have the path memorized, you should restart the race if you make even the slightest mistake during the first minute or so. Try to drive in as straight a path as possible, you don't need to go through the center of the ring, just graze the edge. Avoid air time, that slows you down most of the time and if you are in the air, stop boosting. Save it for when you hit the ground, the physics in this game cause a major slow down when you hit the ground so you want to start boosting again just before impact.
Unless you are very skilled avoid using the brakes, instead to make sharp turns stop accelerating, turn speed increases dramatically and once you are pointing in the desired direction boost back to full speed. Don't worry about things like power sliding unless you are very confident in your ability and the track path.
You don't need to try and beat the first rated player, just the timer and you'll do it a lot more efficiently keeping these things in mind.
Each ring you go through is pointed in the direction of the next ring so generally unless they are pretty close this shouldn't be a big problem.
I can't get the check point rings to work. Race starts, and nothing triggers after passing the first ring. Tried 15 times, tried reloading. These time trials are completely broken. It's either adding seconds to final times, checkpoints don't register when you pass through them, and sometimes the timer starts before it says "Go!".
Wow that sounds horrible, glad I didn't run into any of that. If all else fails though and you are a vehicle collector, the vehicles sold by the vendor do show up on normal vendors on occasion for the specials. I already have the bright white charger from one of those... only cost 500 credits too.
i have this with multiple time trials, the only thing that works is to log out and back in or you'll keep experiencing it. i did the race last night (1 successful try, most had the rings not activating bug) in exactly 4 minutes because i missed one ring because a bump threw me off my path and i had to go back, so i got silver. when i wanted to do the race again later it had just disappeared, it was still on the map, but the starting point was gone. so i went to bed hoping it'll be fixed by the time i play again (rings bug/start point).
oh and one try i only got in the vehicle 7 seconds in the the time trial, because of lag i guess.
