I see nothing wrong with that idea as long as they come up with a good system. I've only bought a few things with my money. The rest of it just sits there.
You mean like gambling?
I would LOVE if there was a basement area of the Crater Bar where you watch 2 AI controlled mobs fight each other in melee, like in the show.
You could bet scrip on it for where you could win double. Bet as low as 1000, and as high as 10000.
Also a main level area for the crater bar to be the "social hub" everyone is asking for.
Gambling, eh? Sure. Give me all your scrip and we can take bets if I'll give it back :D
Kidding aside, I like the idea. Nothing wrong with some gambling in between ark hunting while tossing back a brew or two.
They already shot this down, as it's illegal in a lot of countries.
Just in case you didn't know:
You can purchase pretty much any Orange item you want if you have enough scrip on the Trading Forums.
If it somehow tied to real money it would be, but this is scrip, earned in game. It's no different than playing black jack on a phone.
Example, you can bet "bits" on slot machines in the game, would be gambling as you can buy bits with real money. Scrip you can't.
The game is also rated M so it's not directed at children either.
Obviously laws vary, but again, it's an M rated game. It's not directed at children in any way.
Example Rift (rated teen), lets you gamble on their carnival of ascended event.
What would be cooler would be being able to tame hellbugs and then fight them for scrip/salvage or keycodes :o.
Well some of the GTA games got AO/Adults Only ratings until they cleaned up a lot of content. Same with RDR. Fallout New Vegas had to be imported for the first 3-6 months after US release for some systems because Aus-land found out you could mod the games...
Really there's a long list of things / people that could better explain this than me, but if you're looking for instant gratification, just ask guys like Total Biscuit or Yahtzee sometime.
oh well everyone should take a break
You are gambling with an AI, in a singleplayer game. There is no laws about that.
I think they may be able to add a way to gamble ingame money (no real money) against an AI, like in Fallen Earth. But no gamble between player, or using real money (including bits).
And I'm not so sure about that.
Since they can't stop players from making individual bets among themselves, we need players acting as bookies. And things to bet on, obviously.
Also, I'd love PvP(vPvP) races Cannoball-Run style -- pay an entrance fee, pick your vehicle, first five from, say, Mt. Tam to the Crater gets prize money. We'd need some programming to prevent people from fast-travelling, etc. (Also, good place for bookies to make some side bets.)
How can be gambling illegal in some regions? And how do you play poker in this areas?
they gamble on the show so whats wrong with it ingame....
