I play Defiance for many reasons. 1 being the show is amazing and the game is far from being boring. I have 16 fulls day played on my character now and had the story done within the first week of launch. Yet I'm playing for about 12-full nights with no sleep. I can always manage to find something to do along side with having an active clan on. Talking with them helping them out. Plus with the content they keep releasing every week or bi-weekly keeps me even more motivating until the first DLC gets released. I love sitting here eating my peanut butter cookies, killing hellbugs or 99ers and just talking **** on my screen to what I'm doing in game. Getting that nice Role Playing aspect going. It's an amazing game plus with Trion working quickly as possible to help get fixes out which Takes TIME and keeping us up to date with Twitter and community blogs it's nice to see what they are currently doing. I won't be leaving this game at all anytime soon.

I still play it because I enjoy playing it and there is no other MMO shooter on console. I like building my character, choosing perks wisely, upgrading equipment. Making my character as strong as possible for PvP and arkfalls.

It's also going to be awesome in a few months when this game has been patched and updated many times and they add tons of new interesting content. This is only the beginning of Defiance. Most of you haters are uneducated about mmos and/or this project. There's tons of stuff to do already and there is going to be even more every week. Leave these forums and go play some other game. Your presence leaves a foul stench, and your opinion is meaningless.

PVP is pointless its the same 3 maps over and over. PVE is pointless the co-op dungeons NEVER CHANGE. Arkfalls are BORING because there are ONLY 3 MAJOR TYPES.

Clans are IRRELEVANT because of the above. Socialization is NOT IMPLEMENTED unless your standing two feet away from someone.

Why do you play when there is no reason to keep playing?

new stuff will be added. just because you completed the main story today, doesn't mean there won't be more stories added.

same goes for maps and arkfalls

I play for the sense of progression, 100 more EGO and I get another perk which should make a huge difference in certain areas.
I still have mostly blue and purple weapons, but am always looking out for orange versions with better bonuses, again once acquired they'll take time and salvage to mod properly, but once done the reward is a sense of achievement.

I'm also a completionist. I still haven't got to grips with destroying vehicles, but I'm going to learn. And when I get it down pat it should be rather fun.

Yea but when you have had the game since launch and long ago finished the missions and such doing those same arkfalls, same Co-op maps, same...everything can indeed get old and boring, especially when we have been getting jipped on episode missions

My family still has nights of Monopoly that never gets finished until the next night. Nothing like written down what every plays has and the putting the game away until the next night. Then dragging everything back out and finishing off the game.

"Once you beat this game there is NO REASON to keep playing."

Yeah there is, and it's the only reason I ever play a video game in the first place: it's fun. Playing video games in order to amass the in-game rewards has always been completely inexplicable to me. I mean...it's not REAL stuff.

yep, that's why you take a break and go back as new stuff is added. I still haven't finished the main content, I only play a couple of hours a week, pretty much enough to do the new pursuits. dunno 'bout getting "jipped" on the episode content. I was expecting more, but, they were supposed to be released alongside the first DLC pack that would likely have held us over

That's actually a good idea. People who are hardcore board-gamers have known that Monopoly has a horrifically tedious end game for a long time, and avoid that game like the plague.

It usually comes down to an incredibly tedious slippery slope where one player is obviously winning and it's unlikely anyone can do anything about it, but the game still drags on for several hours as players get nickel and dimed to death.

I unno I just felt like I didnt get my full monies worth, I ran out of stuff to do way too fast compared to other games that are kind of like defiance (3rd person shooter/rpg) If the game itself seem to lack enough content I'm worried the DLCs will be subpar and and in maybe 2-3 hrs worth of non pvp gameplay before it becomes the same thing it is now and thats doing the same encounters, and same arkfalls lol

but yea it was said we were supposed to get new episode missions every other week, we have had 3 episodes come out (4th tomorrow) and no new episode missions lol they claimed this was going to be "revolutionary" new game where the tv show and game intertwine..but yeaaa I don't think "kill 10 X, collect 10X light 10 fireworks" is very revolutionary

The game passes the time nicely, when I have nothing to do for the day. Apparently, Defiance is the only game I have that can do that well.

not when you look at the actual rules for the speed die, it only facilitates the acquisition , not the end from what I understand. Still think monopoly needs an auctionhall though, and pets.

I expected episode mission too, but, if we were supposed to also have DLC missions, people might not be as inclined to do those as well in the limited time. I'm pretty sure we'll see a new episode mission as we expected soon.

This game is a shooter .... it never was and never will be a real mmorpg.
So for a shooter its ok. If I am bored I am playing some coop maps, or single maps with npcs thats it.

Oh damn, and I thought this might be a positive or serious OP, when it`s just another hate post disguising as a question.

I kinda pity those reward-focussed players who grind up to whatever high ego level and only then realize the game has no uber-items worth "working for". Must feel like an awful waste of time. But well, one could figure that out at ego 10.
Correction, I would pity them, if they wouldn`t feel obliged to call everyone who enjoys the game for what it is an idiot.

Answering the fake question, like so many others here, I play it for the simple reason that it`s fun.
And actually it`s way less repetitive than any other MMO...at least I do something myself, and the situations change.

    My play day yesterday:
-Rather brief session on Neverwinter, most likely my last one.
Not enough exploration for my taste, that aside it feels quite generic. Pretty sure it will succeed without me.
-A few hours on Guild Wars 2, first time in a few month. Been in a fantasy game mood due to the previous Neverwinter session.
Still an enjoyable game to me.
-One or two hours on Defiance, like on most days since release. As usual I just wanted to do a side-mission, but ended up doing a series of arkfalls, a main-mission and two side-missions (all with random players adding).
Had fun. Didn`t feel like an idiot because I did.

This rule here is probably the one that most effects the end game

"Mr. Monopoly: First, move the sum of the two white dice
and resolve the space you land on (such as drawing a card, buying the property paying rent, etc.). Then, one of two
things will happen depending on whether or not there is still property in the bank.
    ...
NO, there are no more properties in the bank Advance to the NEXT property on which you will owe another player money."

There's also the crazy amount of irony that the OP was complaining about how boring Defiance's end game is, and now I'm talking about the same problem in Monopoly :p

Why do people talk about end game like its any different in any MMO ever made. The goal is always "Grind crap to get stuff" .. you can dress it up in any window dressing you like, but ultimately, that's the end game. Getting stuff.

I personally think Defiance's lock box method to be superior to dungeons and raids method in so that you have multiple ways to achieve the same goal. Now I think they need to re-balance locked boxes. Remove green loot from the equation and up the drop percentages on the top end but the idea is sound.

I'm sure at this point someone will say "Bah its lottery bullshtako" .. so is any other MMO .. you kill a boss for a CHANCE something good will drop for you. More often than not, it doesn't.. that's a lottery. In Defiance you at least get stuff you can break down or sell.

I was still playing because i had nothing better to do but im done... the game is great but the lack of content is a shame, and i have no reason to keep going since the ingame progression has no sense at all... I hope that my friends and i have some reason to play again in the future...

Because this is a revolutionary game with incredible content support. The paper lanterns, palette-swapped hellbugs, and advertainment race we saw just this week is a revolutionary sea-change in software-as-a-service. I look forward to seeing all of this set a new standard of entertainment.

I keep playing for the same reason I watched that BSG abortion, and Stargate Universe, I figured that it had to get better eventually. I don't have any faith in any of that of course, I ran out a long time ago. But denile, guile, and willpower can be a substitute.

The theory works like this. There are two opposing forces. Force A: The universe's great desire to poke me in the eye by denying me a great media experience. And, Force B: The universe's great desire to make me look like a fool by proving me wrong. Now the dillema, is in attempting to predict which force is stronger.
