Region Lock (Suggestion)

Before people dive in I'm NOT asking for the region lock to be lifted and fully understand the reasons it's in place and for the most part I can support that.

However I, and I'm sure nearly everyone of you have a tight group of friends who you game with regularly and some of them will indeed be unable to join you in Paradise due to the region lock. It blows.

I'm asking and hopefully people will agree that if there could be some sort of halfway point on the co-op maps?

Can't the region lock be lifted for the coop maps as there are only 4 players max at any one time and the lag wouldn't be noticeable at all?

I love the game but miss a couple of my US based compatriots and was wondering if this is at all doable on any sort of level. Posted from my iPhone so forgive me any mistakes.

it's a M$ thing as far as we know. They're the ones who're pushing the issue, nobody else is region locked.

What controls the region you're in through, is it the xbox live login account, or is it ip/location based?

Are you saying PS3 and PC ArkHunters aren't region locked? I was under the impression they were.

Not too sure tbh. Wonder if it's easily bypassed via a VPN??

Yes and I think should just be for PvP and maybe a few PvE places but world wise I don't think so. Also MH doesn't have a region lock on the WiiU so maybe Co-op instances won't be AS bad?

I can't see why, with a bit of fiddling the Co-op matchmaker could allow a worldwide pool of players instead of a restricted region.

They are not region locked, PC and PS3 players can join either server systems. Only xbox forces you into a specific region.

Are you perhaps mixing up the term "region lock" with server segregation? The EU and US servers aren't connected because there'd likely be too much lag between them, unless they had an incredibly low latency pipeline from one to the other, which would likely be more of a hassle than it's worth.

For Xbox - yeah, that's what I was thinking. A vpn on the home router might bypass it, but like I said, i don't know if it's account based, or location based, I don't play xbox.

PS3 And Xbox are both region locked as I own both consoles and I have played the PC Version at my friends house. On the PS3 It is not console locked and by that I mean that Trion has used the xbox locking interface to block people from going out of their region on defiance. Where as PS3 have only made it account locked so you can just change your account information or make a new one to get into the NA Servers on defiance, It is IMPOSSIBLE to play on NA servers if you are in the UK and Impossible too play on the EU Servers if you are on the NA Servers. For some reason they Region Locked the xbox console and not the profile where as on PS3 the region lock is account based not console based.
PC Have no region lock and can just choose which server they want to play on when they are making a character.

Xbox have the worst Region Lock as there's know way around it, it's a little un-fair to be honest because we have ended up kinda screwed.
