Imagine you are walking in a dark alley and you hear something behind you. You look, but you see nothing but an empty dark alleyway.
So you continue walking, but you feel like something is watching you. You start walking faster, but then you hear something, a strange growl.
You don't think, what thing could make a sound like that? You start running as fast as your legs let you. But you trip over an empty flask and fall harshly to the ground. And then you see it... a bug! the size of a big dog, but this bug has six legs and a large round mouth with lots of razor sharp teeth.. it's not a normal bug, it's a hellbug!
Without warning the hellbug charges for you, without thinking, you pull out a metal hilt out of your trouser pocket, it is your charge blade. You have to defend yourself so you activate the blade.
STOP there.
Now think of the blade. What does it look like??

That´s was the short story, the long story is:

Do to the fact we have a extra copy of Defiance on PC.
And we like bossing people around so.. we thought of a event,
and we could not do a worldwide pie eating contest over the net.
So we are doing a draw off instead ... and what better then a naked castithan with a charge blade.

Handicapped folks that lack motor skills due to their type of impairment or access to software like ArtRage(which has a free demo on steam btw) which can mimic perfectly that can have a field day with you for saying that :P

If you were smart but dirty: You'd state all entries accepted then pick the ones you wanted per your purpose.(Judging is a subjective thing really anyways).

If you were smart and diligent: You'd pick the best and do due diligence to confirm the authenticity of the work.

By the way, that picture in the initial post looks like a digitally made water color....

you have the chance to win a free copy of defiance and you whine about having to use a pencil to draw it lol, its also harder for the cheats out there to just find something online and post it as there own. As this has happened before.
I'll start doodling mine asap :P

Sit on your hand till it goes totally numb and you can't feel anything then grab your pencil and try to draw, then post the results. I wish I could draw how I use to before my accident but simply can't. Great for people to judge others without knowing anything about them..

It did not come out exactly as I wanted because I'm used to drawling pieces, and throwing them in photo shop or PSP on different layers and finishing from there. But a globular hilt with growing gems and center gem the blade is projected from. With the defensive hilt extrusions being a small scale fields like the shield wall, but in the shape of twisted hilt pieces. Because you uses a sword and does not protect their hand. ;)

Key Features: (In case you cant read my bad hand writing)

Multi-purpose grip to be used for 1 handed or 2 handed use. (I would dual wield this bad boy!)

Sharkfin Blade for grappling or rending enemies.

Scalpel blade for quick deep cuts.

Gap in blade for snaring and disarming other peoples blades.

Purple energy color cause I thought it would be cool.

i can't draw , anything i do would look like a 3 year old had done it, my point is it's a chance to win a free copy of defiance so why not trie , if you don't enter at all, you have no chance to win. A guild is doing this out of the goodness of there hearts and you want them to change there rule's just for you ?
its far to easy to copy photo-shop and other paint program image's off the net, and say its your own, at least this way they can see that people at least tried.

if you can't draw then i guess you cant enter. i can but i suck at it and i won't be any worse off even if i enter and don't win, my point is trie or don't but to complaining about a freebie offer is just wrong.

enter or don't there are your choices.

You stated you could not draw by hand , therefore you can not enter, yet you posted about it more than once ? why? unless you wanted something changed so you could enter. most people that would be unable to draw by hand would have a hard time trying to play a game like defiance, like my brother who has cerebral palsy down his right side and is unable to use this right arm so he can't use a controller, or uses the keyboard and mouse at the same time. so he cant play games at all, if you can use your hands well enough to use a keyboard and mouse at the same time you can draw , even if its not very good.

hell get someone else you know to draw something for you if you have to as long as its hand drawn.

I can see it now, the BudK catalog comes to life in living blue!

How about a brass knuckle type weapon that could be upgraded with the capability of overcharging it to become a 2 handed beast for a short duration.

Just what I think would be a cool blade, I like the heavier blade the best. And the other one kinda looks like a kitchen knife but...oh well.

Hey gang...thought I'd toss my design into the pool. I always thought that these Charge Blade hilts, like Lightsabers, were weapons of extraordinary technology - and cost! I designed mine with a more organic flavor than what has been seen onscreen. I feel like these weapons could possibly be heirlooms; like swords, weapons of both elegance and grace. I left this purposefully sketchlike as requested by the OP. I hope you all like it!

Like the OP said - I was just trying to design something that I would use and that was aesthetically pleasing to my design sensibility. Richard Taylor (of WETA Workshop fame) - summarized weapons and armor as being hallmarks of the culture that designed them. I think that the design team of Defiance has a rare opportunity here to create a wonderful visual guide for the Votan races - through even the smallest weapon designs; like the hilt of a charge blade.

Zeliska has my vote, if we were allowed to vote.

here all sum inspiration for you all.

My main thinking behind this was to merge the idea of a Castithan light weapon with a more practical, "special-ops" design for regular military use by a VBI operative, E-Rep peacekeeper, or the occasional Ark-Hunter ;). That's why there's the lack of traditional Castithan markings and ergonomics.

The blade when uncharged resembles a regular katana.

When charged, it will have an Orange/Red aurora like what Nim had in the 3rd stage, when he activated one of his Ego abilities. The Charge/energy will resemble a scythe at the end, which will extend the blade and be able to slice through anything.

When charged, the blade will also have the ability to be further extended by a chain link and be swung in a different manner. It will resemble a chained scythe.
