I'd like to do 360 video capture, but I can't decide on what hardware to get. Hauppauge doesn't seem to have one that can work without a PC nearby. I need component cable support, and want to just put a USB stick into the capture device as the recording destination.

If you are doing captures, please share how you do it...

Avermedia just put out not too long ago an independant capture device that can go from the 360 to the device, and capture an whatever format you want, then plug it into whatever you want and either download the files or stream them.

Roxio is also good for basic vid capture and is around 100 bucks, captures right to your pc or laptop, and comes with a pretty good editing software program that works with avi, wmv, or divx.

I currently use roxio, edit in vegas. Hope this helps.

That's the one that SlickDeals alerted me to today. Seems to require a PC as capture destination. Or does a USB stick attached to the USB cable out work just as well?...

I know there is one that will do what you want. Unfortunately I don't remember offhand which one that is. I know when I was researching for the one I would get I ran across one that said it didn't need a computer.

ElGato. I have both the PVR2 and ElGato and the ElGato is the way to go. I believe they recently lowered the price and it is well worth it. I stream on Twitch with it and have no issues with quality, nor do I see anyone screaming "HOLY FRAMERATE BATMAN!" in the chat. Here is a link to a buddy of mines YouTube video of some Battlefield 3 footage recorded with the ElGato.

I use an elgato as well, but you do need to connect it to a PC.
