1000 Ego vs 5000 Ego rating
Edit: Race to Ego 5000 and endgame aside. This post is not about that. Its just about the lack it has for me to keep thriving on.

Whats the difference? Just perks and a status. My Ego rating is around 1200 and I can not go any further. I log in and run around for a bit just to feel I am literally wasting my time. There is no in depth character development and I already know I wouldn't feel accomplished if I were to reach Ego 5000. In the end we all reach 5000, but we are all the same. We even look the same by missions, pursuits and the market.
Everyone has to complete the same missions/pursuits in order to reach the max Ego Rating. Unless you grind all the way to 5000, which nobody is going to choose to go that route.

Just implementing ways to make your avatar's look unique, I think would make a huge difference in a player's drive to 5000.

I've been around for a while, so I've played or tried most MMOs. I know a fail of a game when I see one, and this is not one. It's fresh. It's new, but then maybe starts to sloooooow dooooown a bit. Which then would crash and burn, but not Defiance. Defiance has huge potential and I believe it will succeed. Or maybe I'm just speaking too soon and need to shut up.

Can't really think anything other than these, and iirc you unlock last perk at EGO 4000 so getting last 1k is just for those who want to have complete character.

I personally kinda feel that i need that 4k EGO just to get all perks, because before that i really cannot do my dream spec :<

I think they expected the first DLC to be out by now. They're doling the content out in 6 pieces, the original game and 5 DLCs....most of which I think have been coded ahead of time, but I'm suspicious that way.

Keep it fresh, keep it tied in with the show's progression and keep us wanting more. Good strategy if it works. Unfortunately for them, the bugs, the delayed DLC and the speed at which we've burned through the original content is causing them problems.

The only thing that bugs me is how relaxed they look in the livestreams. Either they're very good actors, or they really are relaxed, and considering the state of their game and their player base, they shouldn't be. Reminds me of Moneyball, when Billy Beane walks into the locker room of his losing team and they're all having a great time.

Between ego 500 and 1500 I saw a significant increase in the amount of stats you can acquire in guns, from 0~1 line to 2~4 for example. Does this go any further? I'd understand EGO would have its use if by ego 5000 you wind up having like 7 lines of additional stats on a gun...

It wouldn't be good for them to look worried as hell on their live streams either their the face of the defiance team would you really want to see them all worried and what not

Muffins- Yes, as Ego increases, the weapons go through many different changes, slowly increasing in quality, I don't think its a full "7 lines of additional stats" but, sitting at nearly 2.5k ego, I can safely assume, based on guns I got near the start of the game, that guns I get at 5k will be better than what I am currently using.

I think I am between 2150-2200 and I really don't think the new weapons I get are significantly better than weapons I used to get. Main reason is they seem to have just one Mod Slot open are too expensive to add more slots. Sure they come with 1-2 bonus built in, but so did the Blue/Purple guns since 1000+ EGO back and I used to get them with 4 Mod slots already on the weapon.

Then all I had to do was attach whatever best Mods I can find.

I came into Defiance knowing practically nothing about the game and I was really expecting a more traditional MMORPG approach to character progression. But I actually like the way the game handles progression because there's no barriers anywhere and allows people to jump right in and be competitive with veterans. I do think Trion dropped the ball on initial content and they should've known people would burn through the main story and side missions pretty quickly and prepared for that.

I can certainly see how someone could feel like they hit a wall as far as character advancement goes and I really hope DLC is big enough to hold players over from one to the next rather than have a short set of missions that people burn through in a few days then another month or so before the next set. I ended up joining a major gaming clan with a presence in many online games and I have to say that doing so has really helped me enjoy the game more. If people haven't done so already and are becoming bored with Defiance I really encourage them to do the same; it really can make all the difference.
