$1700 really isn't a lot of money. I spend more paying for good Knicks tickets. However, this game is such a broken mess that paying a dime over the intial $60 is laughable.

My problem was with the guy making assumptions cause of what I spent. When in all reality he made him self look like a unsuccessful person by making what I spent to be some huge amount. This is one of my hobbies and I have money set aside to play with.. That money can be thrown in the garbage and not affect me cause it was set aside just to blow and enjoy my self with. If u think this is bad u should see my real gun collection. I have 100's of guns ranging from 400-10,000 each...
You people really will ***** about anything. What someone wants to do with their own money is NO ones business but their own. The thread was made asking how much people have spent on the game...,why shouldn't he answer? Its incredible to me that people will come on here and act the way they do, then tell this guy that HE'S got some kind of problem because of how much he spends, but absolutely fail to realize what huge issues they have because of how they treat other people.....
I'd be a hypocrite if I questioned how much people spent on their hobbies. When I use to contract overseas, I made well over 6 figures. The first 80k, tax free. Being a basketball fanatic, I lost count on the thousands I've spent on Knick, Nets and Sixer tickets. My parents live in CA, so when I'd visit I was paying crazy prices to get last minute Laker tickets. If you work hard for your money, you have the right to spend it any way you please. I just don't get how Defiance can entertain someone to that extent. But, different strokes for different folks. My vehicles, along with my wifes, are also paid for along with my home. I would agree with the loot situation but let me make a suggestion. and this is something you could try because I don't have the funds to play around with it. But post patch when everyone who pre-ordered had their boosts back. I had enough key codes for tier II lock box. I chose the tier II lock box and received my first Legendary gun. Then the server's went down and they did a roll back. You could try the loot boosts in with with the lock box's. It was either coincidence or the boosts really do help with loot. On a side note I believe it is boosts that majorly up your chances at orange. Because I've been playing sense beta and alpha and that was my first Orange of the game.Quote:

I tried with and with out the boosts and got the same results on boxes
I've messed up and gotten hooked on the loot boost. I haven't noticed it helping with lock boxes since the other day when I got back to back oranges from tier 2 boxes, but the rate at which I'm gaining ark salvage keeps me adding time to it. While at my favorite bolt sniper kill farming spot I'm making somewhere in the neighborhood of 30k+ salvage an hour. Admittedly I'm not getting great drops, usually whites and greens, but the sheer number of drops I get from my 22% loot boost is amazing.
About $40 worth for me. Some outfits. Just because I never like to have my toon have the same appreance the next day. Its just something I do. Should see how often I buy clothing on APB. XD I'm broke when I make hundreds off of stolen vechs. Any ways. That and boosts.

Blunted, here is an interesting tit bit (no pun intended) for you....that you probably already know based on your scratcher ticket journey. Gambling losses are a tax write off. So now my question is, is this gambling? I would think so. How is it not? Yeah its an electronic item, but many games have individuals/companies that make real money on virtual in game items and virtual currency.
Do you already write this off? If not it would be interesting to try it. It would be more interesting if the IRS wouldn't allow it then you took a case to the supreme court and won.
As far as people judging your spending.......they need to seriously look in the mirror and figure out what makes them so self rightious.
Back on topic: I bought the $50 special they had over the weekend on bits. Bought inventory slots only and cannot for the life of me figure out what to buy with the rest. Boxes don't mean crap to me. Whites, Greens, Blues,, Purples and Oranges....they all perform relatively the same.to me. I have used whites in PVP and still had at least a 2/1 k/d ratio. Outfits.....lol...I use the same one the game started me with. Thinking maybe the truck only because there is a lot of in game driving time. I actually prefer the quad. The Challenger drives like crap.....just like a real Challenger. I know Trion didn't mean to do that, but the irony cracks me up.

This game isn't progressive though at all. If a person was paying money to unlock perk spots or gain ego points then you would have a point. But paying to get a orange level gun when the white or green are just as good isn't cheating. People are just spending money on what they want. I spent $20 for extra inventory slots only to find out it's NOT account perches but character specific! So even though i can make up to 4 characters i can NOT get the inventory slots I paid for on one of them for the others with out spending more money... No point in buying the new DLC for a new character since the cash bought inventory slots don't carry over.
