Finally watched this weeks episode
Well, actually, it was just on in the background while I worked, but I got a good measure of a couple of things that I'd like to mention. I'll be avoiding spoiling anything for those that haven't had a chance to see it yet. It won't be as cryptic to those that have.
One, I now know why the ladies have been losing their collective s*** on tumblr and twitter over the last five minutes of the episode (already knew about the sexy time bit. That's just part of it). SyFy has done one thing very well over the last five or so years, and that is to appeal to their "target" demographic. This directly leads me into point number two.
The show ended with a well known love song that wasn't a crappy rendition. Finally cementing the fact that cultural artifacts such as physical media still exist if you know where to look for them. The song also managed to bridge two distinctly different emotional states in two scenes that the show has been struggling to breathe life into as well.
Now, if they can stay true to the materials that they ape from this time and use them appropriately (and they should, because tomorrow is just around the corner in this timeline), I can see the potential of an entire viewership gushing over this show for ages to come.
