Can't stop laughing at that. Are you serious? Where's the evidence to support all this nonsense? Besides, I was asking the person I quoted/replied to.

A lot of the people you're referring to are social media, or community people. I haven't seen many tweets from ACTUAL developers. I know one of the cutscene designers mentioned it though.

If you're too lazy to go look, then that's your lookout... but you shouldn't basically be calling people liars because you can't be bothered, and since when does it matter who replies? If what they are telling you is factual...

Here: i'll make it easy for you...

Massive layoff. But due to the number of people getting laid off, they have to give us 60 days heads up

The numbers required to develop and make Defiance and Storm Legion (Rift expansion) are much greater than what is required to run those games due to the size of the projects during development to the effort required to run it. Think cabin crews.

It's not because of 'fanboys' or 'poor sales' or even 'failed projects'.

Actually, it's only normal when the game isn't meeting expectations. If Defiance were a roaring success like was planned, then there wouldn't have been layoffs. Layoffs like this do happen a lot, but not when games are successful.

Take into account that Trion develops MMOs, one of them being on multiple platforms...and this is basically a similar situation.

This is the post-launch phase for Defiance, and they have to focus on their unreleased projects.

Firstly it doesn't seem that similar... a small number of layoff vs mass layoffs. Bearing in mind the 60 days notice is only a requirement for a 'mass layoff' apparently.

That said, this game might have launched.. but it's been a botched launch with a veritable shopping list of problems that need resolving. They've already been fixing things at a glacial pace, and the patches they have been releasing have had a tendency either to not work, or screw things up further... So you think 'downsizing' is going to help that?

First I've heard of this and I'm a little sceptical.

Yeah. I was super sad about Tony getting the cut. All of us at KTAM were. He's a super awesome guy. :'(

Defiance team got cleaned out. Some are not getting severance packages due to poor performance. Even as Trion cuts it's losses with Defiance people still try to pretend everything is ok.

This game is an absolute disaster and it's time to cut losses and move on. Welcome to maintenance mode.
