I remember one of the game-play scenes in a commercial showed a bunch of people riding and running towards the monolith. Is he destroyable with a large enough army and a good strategy?

First is it programmed to even take damage?

If yes an army of bmgs and 2 weeks time maybe lol!

In the DLC there are supposed to be Monolith arkfalls. Right now though I think it has plot device armor and can't be harmed.

You can actually cause damage to the Monolith, but only with melee attacks.

    I'm super serious.

I think your on to something. We need a large group to storm the legs; while outer groups fire on it, in an effort to draw its destruction beam's fire. Then have Blur/Decoy medics on the ready to revive groups as they die.

I can see this going horribly wrong and ending up very entertaining.

There were a lot of things shown in the game-play videos that were misrepresented. If you want to nitpick.. sure, you can get a large group of people together and drive towards the giant robot as seen on TV. For all the good it will do you.

Lulz, not trying to nitpick. My ambitions are greater than such petty squabbles. I intend on taking down the invincible bridge troll!

The commercial just sparked the idea, as I am sure I'm not the first to have...

I just meant nitpicking in general, not you specifically. :)

There was an attempt at taking down the monolith shortly after launch. I think they had 40+ players or something? They were slaughtered.

Hate to kill the ambition in it's crib here, but just a reminder that enemy health scales depending on player density. Pretty sure that'd apply to the monolith too. Bring all the people you like, it's just gonna make it angrier.

You can do it, the force is strong in this one! If your obliterated I'm sure the 99ers will rebuild your corspe. Listen up Trion we can go around the bay area collecting scrap to rebuild Zabuza as a contract prehaps?!

The monolith on the bridge has a MASSIVE case of plot armor.

The answer, though, is yes, you can take down a monolith with a large group. If it weren't the case, Darkmatter probably would've won the war.

You'll see clues as to the true durability of the monolith being greatly overexaggerated later on.

Also I've heard there'll be monolith arkfalls in the coming DLC. We'll have moer first hand experience then, I'd say.

No. It has infinite health (rather it doesn't take damage), it's perched on an invisible wall, and going too close or trying to go around it (which you can by dropping down a hole to the left and ledge walkinging under cover) triggers a massive AoE that will toss your broken *** half a block.

The programmers got something right for once, no loopholes are known...though I'll be honest I haven't seen what happens when you approach it from San Fran.

So did Kerafyrm (the Sleeper)... they still dropped her in a server-wide raid. then were rewarded with.... 0 loot table, 0 exp, and a gm saying "okay, what bug did you exploit?"

but dangit, they broke through the plot-armor!

It has to be doable, doesn't it? That's a huge f'ing carrot on the stick to not do anything with. I can't see a massive amount of bodies just being thrown at it doing much, but a proper directive and strategy could be interesting. Videos of this battle (and subsequent ones) would do more positive pr than any of the tv reliant marketing has for this game so far. Both with the current player base, and with the show base.

I wish, woulda been alot more fun than a cut scene.

Such a turning point in the game and you get a cut scene. *grumble grumble*

i would have been fine with a cutscene, if we had gotten to do more, first... like... dodge incoming fire and plant a tracker underneath the thing, would have left me feeling like i at least took some part in it... or maybe if it had been a mini-boss type fight... where you have to keep jumping in and out of cover while weakening shields enough for the ultra-weapon to break through...

What if 20+ players were using Blur+Perks/Mods/Weapons boosting melee damage and 2-3 other players just standing back with the level 3 One for All perk (everyone around a 75m radius is revived when you revive someone)?

Blur-rushers charge and keep smacking the monolith, medics scrape the Blur-rusher's remains off the road, rinse and repeat.

I'm not sure if the Titan trucks could be used as portable cover to give the medics more time to revive everyone, someone will have to test that out first.

I think I remember a post in which someone stated they tried on the first week and in the end everyone was just dead and they couldn't take it down. Maybe it was stated on Across the badlands.

We had way more than 40 on the xbox monorun. We had nearly 100+ people and we got steam rolled in like 5 alpha strikes.
It was super fun and two of us made it over the bridge by crawling lol.

I just want to see 1000+ people shoot a rocket at it. Though an honest attempt to kill would be awesome, if any PC-US people want to get an attempt going send me a message, this could be awesome.

Also if we managed to kill I have little doubt that not only would we get mentioned on Across the Badlands but also receive some kind of title. In addition to possibly being featured in advertisements.

In all honesty, if anyone on the 360 wants to get a huge group together and try this out, hit me up.

We need a sign up thread for those that are willing to die for the cause. Or a memoriam. However you want to look at it. But this NEEDS to happen and be documented. And shame on them if it just can't be done without glitching. I strongly suspect that we'd tax the system before we got a chance to see any results though.
