Have you ever seen a purple or orange drop from a mob?

I recall Sledgehammer saying there is small chance for a mob to drop an orange; however in my 1800+ levels of playing I've never seen a purple drop, let alone an orange, occassionaly I see blues. I wanted to ask around and see if anyone has seen mobs drop a purple or orange?

I am enjoying the game, I'm mostly wondering if the lack of seeing at least a purple drop is a bug, or is it just that rare?

It doesn't happen. Period. Drops are tier locked by enemy type. Some enemies don't drop gear (skitterlings). Most enemies drop up to green. The most powerful enemy type of each enemy group can drop blue (shtako like blacklungs) as can the Hulker.

Everyone who claims to have gotten a orange weapon, seems to have gotten it at low ego level. correlation/causation be damned, feels like a bug with loot drops. But the numbers are all hidden, and it'll be a cold day in hell when the devs release them. 2200 ego here and never seen a purple or orange drop from a mob. I call BS.

My boy SWEARS he did an arkfall SOLO, and got a orange rocket launcher...

He is EGO 2400, with multiple oranges so I dunno why he would lie (this was in the first week of launch)


I think he did a raider arkfall and is mistaken for the advanced weapon drop...but i dunno

I was specificaly asking about mob drops, but that's nice to know about arkfalls. I linked Sledgehammers post above, saying there is a small chance for mobs to drop an orange.

I can at least confirm my one orange came from a lockbox at around level 450.

Playing since day 1, never seen it. For me ground drops have been white, green and blue only. Purples have been from arkfall final rewards (always shields or grenades), quest rewards (specific pre-set items), and (mostly) from checking the vendors for nice stuff. Oranges (of which I have 2) have been solely from lockboxes. (Edit: needless to say, I also get greens, blues, and purples from lockboxes.)

Not to say it's impossible, but given the total hours played by all the people who also have never gotten one, it would suggest the odds are beyond astronomical if it is possible at all. This could change, of course. Prior to last night, I don't recall ever seeing a blue item just sitting in the arkfall crystal "loot pile" -- not from a specific kill, just part of the stuff it puts there at each sub-crystal in the arkfall cycle. But there one was last night, on top of 2 green items, making for a green/blue combination glow. Then again, I seem to be getting a ton more ground loot the last couple of days for some reason (with no boosts, and no changes to loot-based perks).

Doing an arkfall solo isn't unheard of. A few issues though...

1. Arkfall rewards have never been performance based (though in the case of minors your rewards do step up the longer you are at the arkfall).
2. Any early data should be taken with a grain of salt because the game is buggy as all hell.
3. Oranges from majors and minors is at the moment an unconfirmed myth
4. Pics or it didn't happen

The thing is, we have dev confirming that they drop, and out of the thousands of forum posters, he is also the only one who has had one drop.

It's like, if I was the president of the Lotto Commission, and everyone is saying that NO ONE has won the lotto, so it might be broken. But somehow, against all odds, I won.

I did actually get a purple weapon (it was an infector, so I just sold it before I realised purples are almost as rare as oranges...) from the San Quentin hulker back in the early days, but since we are talking around day 4 or 5 it could just as easily have been a bugged drop...

Can you tell us what level they are? There seems to be a thought orange is more likely at a lower playing level?

NO.

This has been a big topic of debate in the 47th Legion but through 156 active members NO ONE has seen a mob drop a purple, orange, or a mod.

And anyone who claims otherwise is full of it, even Sledge. No one has ever provided a screenshot to prove it. NO ONE.

Your the first I've learned of to ever get a purple froma drop, that's a little encouraging. If you read Sledgehammers quote he said there is a chance from all mobs to get an orange, I would imagine that goes for purple too?

so far ego 2500 and never had drop above blue. even with full group with both group and personal boosts during the loot weekend we barely even saw blues. tons of whites & greens so at least got like 400k in salvage.

Oddly enough I can confirm this, my only immunizer find "purple also" came off the hulker at the docks. Was weapon leveling and accidentally killed him. My oranges have ALL come from T4 lock boxes. I've opened honestly maybe 18 total? Got 5 Legendaries, all my T3's have been utter ****, and I've opened hundreds of those.

I would imagine that if all mobs could potentially drop oranges then the same would hold true for purples, but since it was back in the very early days it could just as easily have been a bugged drop...

At the time I assumed (as I imagine most people did) that weapons would improve over time and since my inventory was severely limited back then I sold it for scrip (which I thought would be useful later!). Sadly, now that I am actually trying to level my infectors I realise that I should have kept hold of it. I seem to remember it being better than any of the infectors I have found since... :(

Loot drops from "miniboss" enemies (blacklung, biomen, etc) across the board were nerfed about a week(?) after release. Nobody has gotten an orange mob drop since then and even reports of purples are sketchy (guy who knows a guy).

Simply put, they used to drop from mobs--briefly--but don't anymore.

They don't drop.

I would go with the majority here. 1675, never had a purple or orange from anything besides a lockbox or vendor. (quest rewards don't count, IMO). I didn't start getting Orange drops until after EGO 500- the exception was my very first, which came from the lockbox you get for entering Arkfall Codes (got an orange EGO 50 VBI HP-5 Wolverine, day one).

If they do drop from mobs, it's about as rare as a double-struck Denver D quarter.

That being said, I have every reason to doubt they drop from mobs. There are, after all, other things the community team has told us that we know to be false: Assassin, Rolling Thunder, etc. Synergy types... those are in-game where again, exactly? Oh, that's right- they're not.

At this point, information released to us I take with a grain of salt, because the validity of previous statements made is questionable at best.

I think we need to start a petition to the devs or dev at trion to either prove that the missing synergy mods, and mobs can drop purple and higher or increase the drop rates from 0%. I'd do it but way to lazy
