Clan Advantages?...

Hello, I've seen so much talk about clans on these forums. I've never been part of one, and haven't even considered it until now.

What are the advantages to joining one? Maybe just a brief explanation from someone, please.

I've been playing Defiance for a while now (amazing to play)...and have joined Arkfalls, helped heal random players in my travels, and have been solo since day one.

I don't feel I need to join a clan, but maybe there's some perks I'm not aware of at this point.
If I'd want to join...I'm in the 50+ group, and don't need screamers on my team ;)

Please, let me know if I'm missing anything, or if it's just over-rated.

You can buy bonuses for xp, scrip and stuff and if you're in a large clan someone usually buys it for the entire clan. If you join a chatty clan you can talk and arrange events to do. Co-op missions with clanmates wanting the same thing is better than with randoms who run ahead and don't skip cutscenes.

You can get the same boosts w/o being in a clan and after doing a co-OP so many times you have to skip the cutscenes... They get old.

It is just more than the bonus perks you get. Many large clans chip in for extra xp and loot. For the first week I played this game by myself while in party char with friends who were playing other games. The game play was fun when doing the main missions story and I had the chance to do the episode mission with Rynn in it.

With that being said, the side missions were a slight let down. Go here and collect this, go there and scan that. Yawn. I killed the game off pretty quick within the first week going from 0 ego to 885. After completing the game I headed to the forums to find a group of people to play with...

Since joining this clan, I have learned so much more about the game. The game has a new feeling to it now. Whenwe are completing pursuits a lot more teamwork and communication is needed. Overall it brings a different level of gaming into the mix. Also, you learn the maps a lot quicker and have a chance to understand game dynamics more-so. Also it it a little more fun to have buddies to talk trash to after completing ark falls or coop missions when you deal more damage than them. ;)

This is a MMO TPS ... Therefore, I believe the goal of it is to get out there and interact with other gamers during the course of your time spent online. The more people you have to play with, the less likely you will get burnt out so quickly waiting for the next DLC to come out. Just my thoughts.

Certain clans, (like the one im in) have bonuses going all the time thanks to generous members. As of now the clan im in has over 1100 members, and 220 hours of xp boost, and all of the other boosts. No screamers, and we are called the Browncoats (firefly fans :D ) If you would like to join my gamertag is Coilby, and I can have a clan officer send you an invite.

I just feel I don't want to be tied to a group, where you have to be places at particular times, or whatever.
My work hours are pretty crazy, so I get on when I can, also feeling I wouldn't be able to contribute to the clan as I'd want to.
Or, is that an issue with players?

I know it's not an issue in the Browncoats. We do arkfalls as a group every saturday from 8-10 (dont remember what time zone) but its NOT mandatory. Nothing is mandatory, but someone is online all of the time due to the sheer amount of players.

The group I play with does not set up meeting times at all. We log on, check our clan list, see who is on, and ask if they would like to run some pursuits or push through quests. We make it more of a group effort to push through certain tasks. There are plenty of groups out there like ours. You just have to look around.

Also, we all have to deal with the daily grind so we cannot just say be here at this time or get out. It just is not practical. When we are online together though it is plenty of fun.

At the moment...
- Clan chat, which if you're a member of a clan of players aged 30+ like I am, keeps the squeakers to a minimum... but that doesn't always work correctly.
- Clan Boosts, which are nice because you don't always have to spend your own money... but that sometimes glitches after going into matchmaking.

Some clans, like the Ancient Warriors, don't have any requirements other than being aged 30+ ( we've made exceptions ) and being respectful towards others.
