Buckshot Patch 5/23/13 FAIL !!!!!!!

Logged on to xbox live, started game, started patch download. When finally done on download screen message popped up "Download failed", screen then changed to "Install Game". Checked my console memory and the game itself was gone, only 2 game saves from April 2 and April 18th were still there. In addition several Items I have downloaded from the Defiance store were missing as well. Re-installed the game and attempted to download the Buckshot patch, again received a "Download failed" and "Install Game" message. Suffice to say many bad words in several languages ensued. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Trion, any help/ info would truly be appreciated. Loving the game up to this point. Thank you.

Well I have a similar problem. Downloaded it. It failed. Now its doing it again. Can't wait, i'll be doing this all day long

Iv also had this problem, worst of all my storage says 'Saved game corrupted'. If iv lost my character I will be raging!!!

Tell me where you all live and i'll get a bus, we will Road Trip are way down to Trion's office and talk to them.

Checking in to these problems now - have you had any issues with losing connection during downloads?

Character information is saved on their servers, much like every mmo.

You guys aren't the only ones having problems. After "full" download and save I received an error stating "patch error". Currently redoing everything again. Oh and for Erik, I never lost connection. This isn't the first patch that I've had to re-download due to some type of error.

Ok - we'll check on the Patch Error problems. We've got the team standing by and checking all of our data logs looking for info to help identify the problem.

I'm having the same error only i still have three save files on my hard drive.

After the patch installs can you 100% exit the game and relaunch it?

I completely exited the game. Booted it back up and redid the "saving" part of the patch. Everything is working now. Hope this helps.

Just got a patch fail, too. It's prompting me to install the game now (It's still installed according to my harddrive), but when I try to it instantly throws out -

Critical
Failed to install the necessary game file. Please try again

Again, please try to 100% exit the game and relaunch it.

Does this mean I shouldn't patch my game yet? A nice reply would be great.. Thanks much.

Please go ahead and patch - this doesn't look like it's affecting everyone.

Didn't work for me. Also tried restarting the Xbox

After 27 mins of downloading the patch I got error at end too. Im leaving 2morrow for 3 days, wish I could get some play time in today.

Well I got a patch f%*&ing error!!!!!

I'm having same problem, first i just got a message that "download failed". I went back to the dashboard and relaunched and now i get "failed to download versions. patch aborted" I did not have an interruption in connection, now what?

Got the patch error to (360) one time only though went back to start screen after the pop up and hit down load aging had no issues worked perfect.

I did the patch twice. Turned my xbox off and started the second patch and still got Patch Error.

The same problem here...

Going to Boosts page just froze my xbox too

Yeah I've had the same thing, tried 100% coming out and relaunching the game. Get to the Defiance "press start" screen, pressing start sends me to a " A install game" screen that fails to a Critical message "failed to install a necessary game file. Please try again" I'm now going round in circles. Any suggestions?

It had also happend to myself on 4 different occasions, after numerous ways of attempting getting around it at 100% completion none of them have worked. I have been promoted to re-install the game itself but got a failure there also due to it not being able to find the patch files.

The PvP map coming out again Freight Yard, I believehas been said to only be out for 24 hours, if this is the case then patching errors like this can ruin the game for many, not giving people much time, if any to enjoy the new updates.

The patching system needs a patch.

Same problem on my Xbox 360 Slim 250 GB. This Patch is horrible, sorry but that's the truth. :(

I haven't played in more then a week when I get on for the patching it gave me the patching error. I shut down the Xbox and now it keeps prompting to redownload game and ends with the critical error message. Does anyone have an idea of a workaround yet?

I downloaded the patches and made it through but when I try and download the patch notes it ends up failing and says: Critical
Failed to download versions. Patch aborted.

I've just deleted all the patches from my Xbox hard drive and am now attempting to reload from scratch. I'll let you know how I get on

got the patch error first try, second try went smooth and launched into game and booted right back out when server went down lol

Pretty much what happened to me, Bill. Just when I was about to equip my badass Drifter outfit.... Woot.

Rebooted the game / console five times now and it always leads to an install screen ...

I wanna plaaay... But the team is working hard to help us play better...

just applied patch (which takes forever!) ... and i'm getting the "install game" message too. Exited game completely, same message. When I try to "install game" i get the error: Failed to install a necessary game file. Please try again.

I'm now stuck and cannot play. I'm appalled by the constant failures.

What do we do now? How do i fix this so i can play?!

So I've emptied my hard drive of all patches and launched game and reinstalled all patches. I think it has worked, I'm not getting the same error messages as before but I can't be sure as the servers appear to be down now. I may have the RAGE

if i have to do all that... i'm just trading the game in... i'm done.

You are getting this error as servers are offline currently.
