This seems like the best route to go to get your players playing again... 7 hour down time is a good way to push people to other games.
I understand that things break but in this case seems like the best way to not punish your players for some bad coding.

I can't see it being to hard. Though I am not a programmer. But they did it a lot with Freight Yard, so yeah. Just my opinion.
The irony is that making money is more important for Trion but without the servers being up, they can't make any money from in-game purchases anyway. Good idea but Trion will never go for it as their loss is your loss.
obviously true...the entire point is to make money...but if you dont keep people interested ...
Pushing players away seem to have longer effects then taking down the shop for a day or so. I like Defiance and it has kept my attention but there is nothing saying that I will not get fed up and go back to something else or break into something new, then they have lost me for good. But I suppose they still got the initial $60 out of me...
