Loving the game. Question about missions.
So I'm about 8 hours into the game now and loving it. I'm at EGO 180ish, and I'm starting to find better weapons each time I go through something.

The best thing I've experienced in this game so far is the community. I've crossed over from some popular FPS games, and I'm not sure I'm going to go back. Everyone I've encountered has been helpful, willing to take a minute to assist me.

For instance, I'll be doing one of those rescue missions where you need to protect people...and some guy will be driving by. He'll stop, help me kill the enemies, and then go about his business. It's really refreshing.

That being said, I'm not sure I'm playing the game as it's meant to be played. Right now, I'm just casually driving around and doing little missions here and there...occasionally doing an Episode mission or the main storyline. I actually didn't do a story mission until I was EGO 100+, for whatever reason.

The cinematic cutscenes aren't that engaging, but they are still fun to watch.

Is there some sort of progression system I should be following? I don't necessarily feel like I'm getting stronger as I gain more ego, although I am spending my points and equipping my perks to help my character out. I feel like there's no real story, per say. I feel like it's more of a sandbox 3rd person shooter with some MMO elements to it.

I'm not complaining at all, just observing. I'm having a great time with the game and am looking forward to continuing my progression through the game.

Oh, I almost forgot, if anyone has any tips on how to decide which weapons are best, I would be grateful. As of now, I'm kind of just using what "feels" the best. I'm using an assault rifle that has 222 damage and 15.0 rate of fire with a SMG that has like 160dmg and 25.0 rate of fire. When I do the arkfall events, I'm always in the top 20, which makes me think I'm doing alright.

Thanks for any advice in advance!

From what i'm gathering cause i'm doing the same thing the game is meant to be played how ever you see fit. IF you wanna just do arkfalls and drive around and do instances all the time you can do that and if you wanna just do mission you can also thats what makes this game so great is that it is really open world and you can just play how you see fit to your play style.

There is a storyline...it gets better. Listen to all the Data Recorders and intel...it helps to just soak in that stuff too

also be careful, ARs, SMGs and LMGs all share the same ammo. Since you have both equipped, you could run out of ammo pretty fast.

One reason why someone might stop to help you is we all share experience, so he too would get a reward for finishing roadside emergencies. Often they are easier with a helping hand. And sometimes people just stop and see if you need help.. its what I do, sometimes its hard to tell if the other person needs help (unless they dead).

I haven't touched story in 2 weeks, I got stuck so I have been doing anything else. I intend to try again one day, already have access to parts of game I am not meant to yet just by using go to friend (what robot on bridge?). Have all the fast travel locations already.

Perks help, weapon skills also help; are you switching guns once one has a full exp line (on the gun itself)? As you cannot get anymore weapon exp once weapon is maxed.
