But yes. From what I gather, the first DLC is late but I can't confirm it. We do need some sieges up in here because if I'm starting to get bored, Trion better know something is up. (I'm honking my own horn there. ^-^ )

one of the earliest community posts after launch stated it was due to tie-in to the first episode, don't feel like looking it up, but yeah, it's really late, to the point it might be approaching the second DLC release date - which I assume would be the season finale - july 8th

yea I've had the game since day 1. an yea it is a pretty good game even with all its problems. its been out now for what 2 months? but its just the same old crap everyday. episode missions have been put it properly like once. you cant count the latest 1 as that wasn't a mission, it was jumping to the few fast travel points an its done. the game is loosing its appeal.. slowly but surely. they do need to bring this dlc out soon or at least announce a date. loads of players are have stopped coming on like they used to, even I have stopped coming on so much as when you do come on its oh look a new contract, oh great I did that 1 the other day. FUN!! new content it needed so bad or this game is just gonna die. (adding a replay storyline isn't counted as new content as the only challenging mission is nim. an once you have done it the 1st time even that becomes easy) Sooooooooooo please trion!!! at least give us a time frame!!!!

Come on people you really want a DLC now? Then what?
In a month after that there will be another 1000 threads of posters wondering about the next DLC....

I'd rather have bug free, or rather bug less, game before they slap on a DLC to this game....

People are only desperate for DLC because the game is limiting and limited. They chose to tout this as an MMO and are paying the price for not having an MMO's worth of content. Instead, they have the content of a third person shooter, which is easily completed within two months.

Maybe they do have a lot more content to come, and it is just restricted by their tie-in with the show. Either way, this has probably been a lesson for other companies to bear in mind.

A TPS alone is not an MMO, and a tv show is not a TPS. We don't log in once a week to play. As grand as the idea was, the hard, cold practicality is now showing us why this game-and-watch format hasn't been done before, and probably shouldn't be done again.

Having said that, I do love the game, and will play for a long time yet. There is no denying the truth of the situation, though.

Yes they should have considered the "Got No Life" people that spend 10+ hours a day playing games.....
I on the other hand have a life and spend about 5-6 hours on Defiance in a week.

There was an interesting post done by Justin a while back (I'll have to find it) where he talked about some issues with the current game. Of course you'll have the hard core parkour individuals that will spend 15+ hours a DAY on the game. These individuals cannot be happy no matter what content is put out. They will burn through it and quickly get bored. Next on the tier which can be considered hard core but not the "insane" type. These individuals spend about 8+ hours on the game and won't burn through the content as fast as the hard core parkour type. You can throw as much content as you want but they will still burn out and move on. A good portion on here that you would like to keep in player size.

Now, the next group is where the real meat of the player base is at. We'll just call them the normals. These individuals don't spend as much time as the hard core individuals but they will be the chunk that Trion will want to keep coming back. Where it would normally take about two months-ish to bore these individuals, they are quickly becoming bored within just two weeks of game play. This is worrisome because not only are they burning through the content quick, they are the people you want to come back. And Trion is right at the edge of not pleasing those players.

Then, of course, you have others who rarely play the game. AKA super casual. They might pop in once in a while but they aren't the real chunk you are wanting to go after. So long periods of content patching isn't going to bother them for they haven't finished much of the content already available.

If I had to guess myself, I would put myself in the normal gamer. Work and family takes up a good portion but even still, I burned through the content and now find myself less likely to get on because what else is there to do? Sure I could grind, maybe do a little pursuit, pvp, but it's all mind numbing and not interesting to me. I did pop on and do the Plague hoping for something better but seriously, only 3 data recorders? That's it? I spent only about twenty minutes back in the game? (I'm being generous with my number there).

And I believe there are others who would somewhat (not all the way) agree.

If those cigs you got sold were duds would you be happy
This game was sold as a mmo not a £60.00 single player game

What let me guess it has more than 16 players online
It's a single player shared world experience not an mmo it has no elements of an mmo

that's pretty much the definition of mmo. not necessarily 16, but a persistent world with a large number of players. You can't put a limit on the number of players due to the fact that lobby shooters are increasing their game sizes. aren't a few up to 32x32?

regardless of what you seem to feel an MMO is, or should be, it's certainly not a single player game. you can't say it's single player if it's shared world, they are contradictory

what, in your opinion, defines MMO, because the only solid definition for MMO is a high number of people in a game at the same time being able to interact

We don't get new content each week, that isn't correct.

When there is new content, it is frequently the "datarecorder" type stuff. For example, this week's "content" could be completed in less than 3 minutes by fast traveling to 3 points and right clicking an item.

I'm not actually complaining, but Trion has hurt themselves many times by promising or alluding to content and then failing to deliver. It's a silly, silly pattern that is probably not going to stop.

The marketing for this product is all about "sexy new show/game content every week - omfg it's INSANE!" and then a few data recorders or lanterns every few weeks.

The crossover of the Irathian woman from a few weeks ago was totally fine and had about an hour of content. That's reasonable, even if it was mostly data recorders, they at least did a mini-mission in a bunker with reskinned enemies. That is realistic and reasonable. That is the only time in 8 weeks that anything qualifying as "new content" has been done.

To be honest, Trion should never have promised new weekly content. It's impossible given the lack of a real alpha/beta test period. An experienced producer would have realized they were setting themselves up to fail.

    /agree, doomsaw.

I'm a casual and haven't completed the main story after two months of play, but even I can see the lack of depth.
