why I quit playing this game

As far as I can tell...this game Is a hybrid....A TRUE free-2-play game requires no cash to play...and any cash spent does not overpower your toon..it just speeds up your progress. In this game, you are required to fork out cash to buy/install the game..and after a certain point, you must spend cash to upgrade your gear and weapons to progress further... So, it is NOT a free 2 play game. Some of the people in my guild have no problem throwing $65.00 a week into this game, and have no problem acquiring good gear and weapons because of it...but I have kids...4 in fact. I can not afford to spew out cash like a madman on this game if I want to keep my kids fed. So even thoe I would LOVE to continue playing, I can not afford to. IF this game decided to go TRUE F2P, or went subscription based, I would gladly pay $15.00 a month to play...but as it....I can't justify the cost/time cost.

....what is this I don't even?

1. Defiance is BUY to play. It has never been free to play. Buy to play means you buy it and don't pay anything else to play it.
Free to play means you don't pay anything to download it or play it.
2. You do not have to spend money to upgrade your gear and weapons? .....

So what is the problem here?

You are only required to pay for the game initially. You are not required to spend any real money to upgrade your equipment. You can if you want to, but spending real money does not increase you chance of getting better equipment out of lock boxes over a player who uses in-game resources. What you get out of a lock box, or as a reward for doing an Arkfall, is completely random. I bought 3 Tier 3 lock boxes tonight, using scrip and keycodes (in-game resources), and did not get one purple item. IIRC, I got 3 or 4 blue items. I could have just as easily gotten 2 or 3 purple items, if my luck had been better. FYI, those 3 Tier 3 Lock Boxes Cost me 6000 scrip and 72 key codes, and I ended up either selling back to vendor or breaking down to Ark Salvage ALL 9 items. The scrip isn't as much of an issues, to me anyways, as the key codes. Did it suck? Yes it did. BUT, maybe I will have better luck next time.

PS - Perhaps I should give your friends my bank routing number and account number, so they can deposit $65.00 per week into my account. Seems like a better use of resources :o

Defiance is Pay to win... you have you buy it to win it durr...

But even if it is a f2p like PoE it is a pay to win...

seriously though only pay to win crap here is the lock boxes... do a few emergencies and boom you can buy your crappy little lockbox with the keycodes or better yet pick up all the items you see like a greedy little scavenger and salvage them for scrap then change that to keycodes

So you quit playing the game because there are people who have more money than you who choose to spend it on the game. And because you have no method to obtain new gear as fast as they do, you deem it not worthy of playing.

So your essentially quitting because you cant do what someone else can do. Does this also apply to play time? because you cant play as often as others is another reason you quit too?

Here let me help you out. If you value your ability to play video games based off of what other people can and cannot do, you will never be satisfied. No matter what game you play. Stop looking at what other people can do, how long other people can play. You are not a kid anymore. you have family and responsibilities. Those days of sitting at home on the parents dollar and playing video games endlessly are over for you. Accept it and enjoy games for what you have left.

Hope that wasn't aimed at me... I got the money to fling where ever i want....
However... i do emergencies, salvage items, get keys, and if im bored or pissed about any game

I either play something else or sleep... (btw I bought this game for a friend.... *coughs* to kill him off repeatedly and revive him over and over again to for-fill my evil desire to see friends suffer.... erm..... so anyways not like im going to quit hell i bought this game at the beginning of the month!)

I think he is on the wrong game forums or trolling, the only thing you really spend money on is cosmetic stuff, boosts, or maybe DLC stuff may unlock stuff that would put you ahead, but we don't even know yet. Even EGO levels don't make that much of a difference, weapon skill is the biggest difference and in time everyone can raise those.

Try playing a real pay to win game like neverwinter, then you will know the difference.
