So you're telling me YOU mistakenly bought a T3 Lockbox with bits and you're blaming your mistake on Trion?
to even have the option to spend bits on such a thing is ****ing stupid. Its the first thing to choose aswell.
Yes Im blaming Trion. To have the option to buy tier boxes with bits in the first place is a cheap shot.
I never did that. But I can see how easy it is to make a mistake that way.
IMO bits purchases should ONLY be doable in the Definance Store because anyone buying lockboxes in game is 99.99% going to do that with keycodes.
It will also streamline the interface because then they don't have to display the currency selection screen.
It is rather annoying. I've accidentally done it about 4 times now at least since launch. There should at least be a confirmation of whether or not you want to buy with bits.
and maybe its my fault that Im on Benadryl right now and it has made me drowsy and I screwed up. But what the hell. Cant play this game inebriated without it trying to rob my pockets?
I'm confused about this topic, maybe someone can clarify it for me... How do you screw that up, there's only 3 options, and it's not like the words "bits" or "resources" look anything alike to where they could be confusing. And the fact you have the options to choose one or the other is your confirmation... So I raise this question... How is it anyone's fault but your own, that you and the others that claim they've accidentally done this, just plain can't read
Unless you have never made a typo in you life, I'm pretty sure you should understand that human errors happen and it is the system designer's job to reduce the chances of human error. There is a reason the launch all nuclear missiles button is not placed beside the power button for the coffee maker in a nuclear submarine.
i happen to agree. i don't like the option being at the vendor at all. you can get them in the store so i'd love nothing more then that option being removed from the vendor completely.
also while we are on the subject are tier 3 even worth getting anymore? since they changed the colors i get nothing but greens and a rare blue. but then i broke down today and got a tier 4. got 2 greens and 2 blues :/ i dont want any more f'en blues or greens i got 300 blues and no damn space and NO im not buying anymore. $60 was robbed from me and is way more then enough on space. seems i have better chances of getting a epic from a vendor special then the last 2000 levels of ego getting lock boxes :/ and orange just forget about it. whatever anyways since the extremely rare orange i do get anyways, well i bet i can find whites better cause they soooooo poorly itemized
I do agree the bit button could have been made more.. idiot proof but then again.. paying attention to what you do is common sense.
Im not even disagreeing with the OP about there being room for improvement on this buy with bits option but I hate to say this thread to me sounds like a woman blaming a guy for falling into the toilet because he left the seat up.
I did this ages ago never bought bits again lol most mmos if you spend REAL MONEY on something it asks "are you sure?" however Defiance doesn't it just buys it. you get lag and accidently click the buy with bits (middle option) when you try going to the top option. I didnt even bother trying to get a refund for this error i simply decided never to buy bits again
I've bought it on purpose... noted via the main store site...
NO blooded idea why your cursing or complaining one dang bit...
Who cares if you didn't get a purple... there are green just as powerful as purple and just as powerful as orange... RARITY really doesn't effect this game one bit.... what matters is the stats... Reload, fire rate, damage, and crit multi... that is it... nothing else truly matters
And if you are complaining about your accidental stupidity of accidentally using bits.... STOP HORDING THEM FOR FREAK SAKES SPEND THEM FOR THEY WILL BE TO LOW BUY ANYTHING!
-.- it is not like it auto-buys bits out of your checking account or some clearly wrong system...
It prompts you to buy more or says you do not have enough...
So stop getting your panties in a not and batching at a company for your own ******edness
Like I said I agree there is room for improvement such as a confirmation button. But again.. not using common sense was the real problem, pay attention to what you do, especially when you are trying to buy something in a game or RL.
Heck the same.. common sense applies when you are buying a random item for scripts, sourcekeys, gold, platina or what every IG corrency ANY game has.
ya i had no intent of buying a tier box with bits i was using it for inventory slots lol had thought i spent all my bits actually but got a bite of lag when pressing up and it didnt go right to the top like i wanted to (had tons of data keys at the time) and bam accidently bought. But like i said i wont buy any bits unless i have intent of only buying one thing with said bits and will do so now through the defiance store. not worth the risk especially with the current state of the game and its issues
Wow. It seems like you are the only one with your panties in a knot*. Noone was flipping out about the poor design, just pointing out that there should be confirmation when purchasing with RL money.
It is honestly terrible that the option is even there. Y would one drive to the lockbox vendor to buy one with bits when the option is right in the store. And the purchase with bits option is when you hit up once, so ya in a rush it is very plausible to select the wrong option. Be it muscle memory from another game? I really don't know y I always rush through it...
Oh and I am saving bits for changing my character when it becomes available. I'll "horde" them all I want bro...
it's actually very easy to make this mistake, especially if you are not paying much attention, they don't ask for a confirmation, once you click bits it just uses bits. It is a rather crap option in my own personal opinion, Bits ( real currency ) for a lockbox which half the time the weapons suck anyway is a crap deal.
i don't see why anyone would want to in the first place, as well as the bit sales, Those are ridiculous prices, They are way to expensive in my opinion 50$ for 5000 bits, that gets u nowhere really.
and the bonus they have now, was original prices and amounts you got before " the bonus bits" comeon trion all u guys did was down the Amount you receive from what it used to be by a couple hundred, and then re added them as bonus bits.
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL I mean come on...... Your problem if you brought it with bits..... Try looking next time and you wont mess it up maybe? Trion are not at fault for your mistake of not reading thats your own issue.......
Lets hope you read next time....
Ok. So not one productive counter argument as to why they shouldn't put a confirmation yes in to purchase with bits. Just trolls calling people stupid. Would it affect your game play at all if they fixed this? No? So why feel the need to be pricks?
There shouldn't be a confirmation, it's written in plain English "buy with bits" or "buy with resources"... It's not like it's confusing. If they say, used pictures or sounds instead of words, then maybe.... But it's in a language we all know and understand. If someone isn't paying attention then that's on them, it's not the company's fault your all hopped up on Mountain Dew or whatever and got distracted. When I go grocery shopping, the cashier doesn't ask me after she scans every item if I'm sure I want to buy this or that, so why should Trion put in an extra step to ensure people aren't just flew blow ******ed... Sounds like this is nothing more than just buyers remorse
I did once make the same mistake and realized it was MY mistake, no one else's. I was too quick to hit my controller button. The feature exists for those who want to use it and some do. It's an option and the use of paid items helps to ensure the longevity as well as continued content in the game. This as opposed to a subscription.
No one forced me to hit that button when buy with bits was selected-it was my mistake. But some people do so on purpose with their money. And Trion is not the first game company or company that has ever existed that actually might hope you make that mistake. In fact a lot of companies have their ecommerce checkouts that by default will add on stuff at extra cost (high S & H) and require you to look for the little checkbox that says, "only send me the thing I want".
Yet, when you go to sell an item that is purple at the vendor it pops up with a confirmation. Automatic reaction is to hit up and A. You go to buy a lockbox, up pops a screen and your automatic reaction is to hit up and A, but oh wait, you now just purchased it with bits instead of resources... at least switch the 2 around...
Nasty post or posts aside, sure it seems they should and could add a confirmation to this since in game if I go to sell or destroy some items it will ask me if I really want to do this or not. This should be added to the suggestions area in order to be productive, and done so in a more sensible manner.
But a reminder-not just for this game but in anything where real money or donating body parts might be involved, read before you click.
yep, i agree. but you got to admit that it is kind of set up for you to fail by have it defaulted on "cancel" and have to scroll up pass "buy with bits" to get to "buy with resources". I dont know why someone would walk up to the vendor and use bits to get a lockbox instead of just going through the store and buying it.
In my opinion, "Bits" should not even be viewable in the world at all if you can't earn it in the world. It should only be seen in the Defiance store. I don't mind seeing it in my Stats Screen with Currency or on the Boost screen. But it should really only be kept in the Defiance store.
The "bits" option is a little silly.... I think everyone agrees with that, if you're going to have the option at least let us have some sort of opportunity to earn some
It all depends..
Is there a confirmation when you bought it (are you sure? <yes> <no>)
That was my point before. It's a tactic that is meant for you to use real money. It's up to us to be smarter than those that create this stuff that's used to fool us or get us to make mistakes. We have to be our own advocates.
It's like seeing some ad for a great sale, unbelievable price but not noticing that there's only one single item that will be sold for that price in each store. You run to the store to buy and find out the price is higher or that they require you to buy a lot of other stuff in order to get the special price. They fooled you.
You go to buy something you saw on tv-great price, cool. $14.99 for a this great product. You go to the website, and add it to your cart. But wait, shipping and handling is what, $9.99 and you have to wait 5-6 weeks but for the low low price of only $21.99 you can have your product moved up to priority handling, which means it will now be shipped in a few days and you will get it in maybe a week. Deception is all around and is always meant to get you to do something you really don't want to do. Large print to get you to pay more. Small, hidden print so you don't have to.
My cousin bought a car recently. The salesman kept telling her 0% interest and showed her a list of what her payments would be and kept saying at 0% interest. When she had decided to buy and had determined she'd go with a longer time to pay back, and had all but bought the car, the manager started telling her about mistakes they had made in the deal-they thought she was putting more money down (no, they didn't-I was there), the payments were higher and not at 0% (never informed her that 0 was limited to shorter term payback). This kind of crap happens everywhere.
And here's something fun to note-read the ToS or ToC for Defiance-you can read it before you start the game. You don't own the game, it's licensed to you. This is what is coming and it started with ebooks and other software. The terms you agree to in the future will allow those things you thought you owned to be changed without your permission or notice and even to be revoked. In the ebook world this has meant you are not buying a book and it is not yours.
I didn't mean to be snarky when I said people need to read things they're buying-I'm serious. With the coming release of the xbox1 and the PS4, there's a lot of this that will affect you. For the most part, you will no longer be buying games-they will all be licensed for your use only. Among other things.
You know this is a forum right? You used over 100 words to say, "Buyers beware."
Most online interfaces that utilize monetary transactions will routinely ask you if you are sure you want to conclude a transaction. The game already does this every time you try to scrap a purple or orange item. It isn't too much to ask that it does this when real money is at stake.
The same thing happened to me and I felt like anyone else would. SCREWED!!!
