Hidden Vendor titles... the Asian text tattoo of Defiance?
So I was pondering this tonight... for those that don't know, two of the hidden vendors in the game have titles you can buy on them.. those titles being ..

    Chango
    Yelanda Nanggo

.. okay.. groovy sounding.. but what do they mean? The vendor doesn't say. It rather reminds me of Westerners getting Asian tattoos and hoping they say what the artist, who usually got them out of a shoddy translation book .. actually say what they say. For all we know Chango means gentleman's sausage in Casti, and Yelanda Nanggo is Irath for dumb a** human. Or hell, a developers name. What do they meeeean?!

Well IIRC Chango was used by Datak in the first episode of Defiance. It was around the time Rafe threatened Alak, Datak says something like I'm gonna gather up some chango and pay rafe a call.

I think chango is muscle. In the episode recap at the start of the second episode they rephrase his line to say "muscle" instead of chango. Just a guess though.

In that data recorder where Cass repays some debt she calls the guy a Nanggo, doesn't she? I can't imagine it's a flattering word.

well .. for all we know - being Nanggo could be bad thing, but being known for the unbeatable Yelanda of your Nanggo could be totally different .

Yes i do believe Chango refers to hired muscle, mercenary, gun for money etc as Rosa said Echelon chango.

Yelando Nanngo appears to an insult kind of like bastard, one that people sometime call themselves.

    Did a search
and could only find these 2 threads. Not very informative and dont trust wiki.
    A Trion rep should comment.

Those threads make assumptions based on human languages. Who said they are human words.

By wiki you must mean wikia in which case you are correct. However the Defiance Wiki in my sig is trustworthy and not run by thieves and idiots who have no idea what they are doing, which wikia users are.

Hey guys, I was a linguist for the US Army and I study etymologies as a hobby now. I am completely fluent in 2 languages and have studied 3 more. My personal observation and opinion (and I could be waaaaaaaayyyyyyy off) is very similar to what everyone else has come up with.

I take Chango as "associate, colleague, maybe muscle or a wiseguy" (mafia, not the insult) or made man
Yelanda Nanggo as something that could be an insult, but turning it on yourself to give the reverse meaning. Like saying you are a BAMF (bad-@$$ Mother......). Just stand in front of your mirror and say it in your best Samuel L Jackson voice and see how it makes you feel
