Leveling up weapons?

I am closing in on an EGO Rating of 1,500 and I mainly use an Assasult Rifle and sniper when i need the long range but I have only been able to get to level 6 with my assault rifles even though thats what I use every single day. I was wondering if there are any tricks to leveling it up quicker because I am trying to 100% all of the achievements and I can tell that the weapon rank of 20 achievement is going to take FOREVER


P.S. I know that a gun can only earn so much exp before it stops leveling that class for you so its not that, and also Im not looking for any kind of glitches or cheats. Just a quicker way of farming weapon xp because it levels way too slow even with the boost I have

hulker at the prison spam the crap out of scrapworks salvage

theres a few more places to level up your weapons, in case you get bored doing the same thing over and over..

and the new Seige's they added work good as well for exp on a weapon.

I have heard of that but isnt that just a side mission? if so im screwed ive done every single mission.

I have noticed that since every point of damage counts towards the overall score. As an example I've seen this with bolt snipers(that im currently working on) I lvled a lot quicker by hitting crits...... 4900 for a head shot goes a long way then hitting a hell bug warrior for 44 lol so try choosing human or lightly shielded targets and that will help lvl quicker

Fight Forges. and also sieges seem to give very good weapon xp. I wish they appeared more often ;)

Make sure you are not using a weapon that has fully ranked up. I had this issue for a while before discovering that there is two separate types of weapon experience.

There is the weapon itself that has one level.

Then you have your weapon skill experience which has the 20 ranks.

If you are using a weapon that has maxed out it's experience, then further using this weapon will not get you any further weapon skill experience. So keep a couple of weapons for whichever weapons skill you want to level up and you like the stats of, and when you finish one reset its mastery points in the salvage matrix. Now it does cost a bit of ark salvage the first time (mostly for the orange and purples), but after that first reset it costs considerably less.

Just make sure to keep using different weapons until you hit max rank with that weapon skill. But also keep in mind that every time you level a weapon up you get 4 ego rating.

Is this true ? ive never heard that before or seen it anywhere but i do keep getting Ego ratings suddenly and never knew where it was coming from

I know you get ego rating from leveling your weapon skill, but from maxing guns out them selves I dont think so. I could be wrong tho.

Raising your weapon skill raises your EGO rating by 4. Maxing out the exp on a gun gives the gun a bonus and prevents that gun from raising your weapon skill(until you reset it).

Try leveling weapons on bosses, as leveling is dependent on damage done. So if you want to level your weapon/skill, shot tougher characters. If you want the kill count for your ego challenge, then shoot weaker.

Example: hellbug Matriarch instance -
Shoot skitters with an AR - for the '5000 kills,' then
Shoot Matriarch with SMG - for the 'raise SMG skill level to 5'

This will level your SMG faster than the AR simply because the Matriarch can take more damage. Don't know if this would affect high crits such as Snipers - they may 'over' damage a weak enemy, but still give full exp.

Yep. I have been using the same Sub to lvl up that weapon skill.....(up to 7 13 more to go....) but every time the weapon exp gets maxed I reset it.

Forges are the fastest way I can think of, just shoot them in the yellow 'eye' when it opens up, nowhere else. You'll find lots of emergencies in San Franciso that involve Forges but it's not easy getting around there at 1500ish EGO.

San Quentin Hulker you can do any time after you've completed San Quentin in the main storyline.

Only other tip I can give you is use Blast Rifles at close range to make sure every bullet hits, or if using a semi-automatic with scope make sure you go for crit headshots on every 'soft' target (Raiders, 99ers etc). And always carry a spare to switch over to once you've maxed out your existing rifle.

I think the fastest 0-20 if you just want the Achievement is semi-automatic sniper rifles on Hulker. You get something like 10k xp just for shooting him in the brain, 20k if there's more than one of you fighting him, and he exposes his brain 3 times during the fight.

You can max out launchers in 4-5 hours 1-20 easily at big stone reach.
