I have a toon on Xbox that is ego lvl 1300 and I'm just wondering if I switch to ps3, can I retrieve my toon from the Xbox servers or do I have to start all over again?

A virtual console also known as a virtual terminal is a conceptual combination of the keyboard and display for a computer user interface.
Honstly they are talking a mostly direct port so I hope stats and looks of chars can be crossed over to other platforms when next gen hits. it should be relatively easy with the info basically JUST stats, uniforms and what not if the game is ported' and not 'upgraded' per se. Least then consoles will finally have a game that looks nearly as nice as pc users.
As your defiaince account is not actually saved on your console but on the Trion Servers i think you should ask them really. The only thing thats actually on your console is the game terrain and maps and vehicles, but your actual account is at Trion so it may be possible to swap formats.
Not so much so as do you not link your account on xbox as well?
I would thinking it would prevent from transfer but best ask tech support
