Hey guys, I am looking into this game but unfortunately I didn't get a beta code. I have been searching around looking at videos and reading the forums about info on the game but everyone's thoughts are scattered. I really want to get an organized opinion on the game. So please let me know what you think are the pros and cons so far of this beta build!
You really cant give pros and cons at this moment its a beta. and for the ppl hating on it are dumb. its not the finish product and its going to have problem and thats what we are to do as beta testers is to find it and fix them before release date. I love the game. The map is big very nice size. the random events arkfalls are great its like rift for the pc. and it reminds me alot like borderlands. some mission are easy some will your *** if you not ready or poorly prepared weapon wise. weapons are great and they look great too. characters are ok. I would of like more races but I understand the story line so no bigger there. but for cons there are none that im gonna say at the moment caz its a beta.
Can't really list cons right now. Most cons can be explained by it being a beta. Like sign in troubles, lag, missing audio, occasionally missions not letting you complete them, etc. All problems with a beta build.
If you can't decide based on the vid's i would ask this question again after launch.
I guess you might see the region locked servers as a con if you have friends you wanted to play with in other regions.I have a couple of little worries but at present but there unfounded and the regional servers are my biggest problem but i'll get over it and make some new friends for this game.
I thought the regional servers were for the beta only. Are they gonna be that way for the retail version also?

Pros:
Shadowwars rock!
PvE is good with fast and short sidequests.
for Xbox i guess the UI is good (for PC its not :-) )
Groupinstances are fun and dont take to long.
Weaponhandling is good.
Cons:
weapons dont make a huge difference (could also be a pro if you like skillbased games) so a EGO Rating 50 Weapon does almost the same damage as a EGO ration 300 one.
Mods for weapons dont have a direct bonus written on them (you see it in the moddin menu after attemp to add it to a weapon)
instancing is not well done. i.e. you get in a group of friends all join the same instance. queue up for an coop instance and after finishing you all go to different instances again.
All in all its great (at least for PC) :-)
It's Borderlands with hints of Rift. I liked it enough to preorder via steam 3 hours into playing the beta.
Driving and the UI drove me crazy but, those are things I can get used to with time.
CON: This game should never be called a RPG! It should be called a glorified shooter! There is no difference in classes other then appearence. Classes should have different perks and different abilities. Have you ever played a game and seen a rouge for example as a tank or a healer?
Leveling is pointless. What does it matter to put time into a game when you finish it? If a level 10 EGO can kill something just as quick as a level 500 EGO with the same exact skills, whats the point?
Zero challenge. I don't need to have a group of friends to play and help because every zone is easy.

I agree that It doesn't make any sense to have Different classes if they are all the same, but I also don't remember Defiance ever being billed as a RPG...MMOTPS yes but never as a RPG.
