Thats all they do to hide anything negative about the game! They cannot even take the truth about there game! And they created the problem! Maybe if they executed better there would not be so many unhappy customers!

They lock threads to keep the forums under control. Its usually after the attacks go from the game to the forumites personally. I could accelorate the locking of this thread by calling you names, but others will do that soon. Always happens with these threads. :)

The real question is, why mention it at all? Laying off most of your staff is insanely common in the gaming industry, why mention that you're not going to do it?

Although, in their defense, they didn't say how long after launch they'd still be working there.

Most of the threads that were locked today ONLY attacked the game. Not attacking mods, not attacking even Trion, which is why I said we're getting closed to being locked.

If Trion can't keep the game running, i'd be happy if they sold the game to another company willing to make the game better and fixing **** instead of making excuses as to why things keep on breaking.

    Some astute observations here.
Especially agree with the word of mouth comment.

This thread has some relevance. Its an eye opener for anyone who still claims this is normal, but to a point I agree.

I am a Machinist in the shipbuilding/repair business. Layoffs are common only because anyone with half a brain can see when less and less ships/boats come in for repair, or needing to be newly constructed that a layoff is coming. When we use terms like "Quality saves jobs", then turn around and do shotty engine alignments, word of mouth goes a long way, and you get less customers.

Of course how does shipbuilding and coding have anything in common. Well its simple, just like our nautical customers, we as gamers also give word of mouth opinions when we purchase a game. I have personally crucified this game both to potential customers and those on the fence.

This whole evolution from beta to release stinks of incompetence. In a world that's flooded with mmo's, better mmo's, more challenging mmo's, and this what we get as a customer.

Most people will just power through it. Forgetting about the layoffs then curse Trion for pushing back the dlc's is contradicting.

    Lord help us gamers!!!

If you watch Twitch's interview with Nathan....he kinda seems like he has no idea what the **** anything is. Seriously. And what's up with the fade in/fade out accent?

Ever try to get help from 2k games on a real issue? Don't. Their customer service I dealt with will troll you, and generally be *******s all around. Then you can tell they don't know the game that your asking a question for because they spell one of the most common resources in the game represented with a big capital purple 'E' by it's real world spelling counterpart iridium. Since that horrible experience I have boycotted 2k games and refuse to buy anything with their name on it, just because they allow such horrible people to work with the public.

I do feel bad for Gearbox, as I brought up the same exact problem (copy/pasta'd the original issue and question and sent it to both with entirely different responses from both companies). Gearbox was very friendly and supportive and not a week after I brought my issue up (Pyro Pete, and other bosses on a timer were perma-Locked, and I only played offline single player) did they unlock the the timer bosses for everyone just to fix the issue. I still support Gearbox, but any game with both Gearbox and 2k Games, instant no-buy. Just because if I have any real game issue I do not want to deal with those abhorrent 2k Games people again.

So point is some people 'working' for the game don't know wtf they are talking about, and FRAK 2k Games.

EDIT: As a point of comparison, Trion's Customer Service are very helpful and friendly, although robotic and cold with their copy pasta'd phrases. Not nearly as friendly and genuine people as Gearbox CS, but Trion CS is way better than 2K Games CS.

    Officially they were laid off.

Right, They were not 'fired for cause', ie didn't show up for work or the work wasn't performed well. They were laid off to trim the budget. And in fact, from the ones I've heard from, they were kept on board to continue to polish the project during their 60 day notice. THAT'S a huge difference between being fired and laid off, If I fire someone, they are out of the building NOW and get two weeks severance pay. If I lay em off I give them 60 days notice and expect them to continue to work during the 60 days. The notice is to give them time to find a new job, either elsewhere within the company or outside the company. In fact, I'd work my contacts both within the company and outside to help my staff find new placements.

In my time in the Valley, I've done this MANY times. It hurt my soul to have to reduce staff and let people go EVEN THOUGH they were doing a fine job. But, that's the way it's done. Some business grow, some shrink. This is the Silicon Valley way of rewarding success and punishing failure AND for re-assigning workers to where there is a need.

Or play the 'Hitler card'. That's usually a quick lock. As in, "Nathan IS Hitler come back to life and Trion are all a bunch of neo-nazis".
