Do you actually reset your weapons exp?
I'm curious, how many of you that are say 1000+ still use say items that are 500 or more ego rating under your current level?

Do you do resets the weapon skill xp?

The reason I'm asking is I'm seeing more and more people at 3000, that still use 1500 or lower items. I'm not sure why and was curious if it is more than just the few I've checked out.

reset value is lower on low ego weapons :) cheaper to reset!

There is nothing hooked to the higher - lower EGO weapons.
Only rarity matters. But, when yout try to retrieve your mods from weapon, big slap in the face.
For me retrieving the mods from weapon will cost me 120k ark salvage.

But you max lower ego rated items out faster right?

Yeah, lower ego weapons requires low exp to gain in order to unlock mastery bonus.

I seem to have to reset the XP on my canker & LMG's at least once a day... the lowered price is MUCH better IMO

I just use a weapon until I fill up the xp bar, sell it, then use another.

I keep hold of particularly good weapons, but use them mostly for pvp and such.

As someone stated earlier, the EGO rating no longer matters to reset weapons. Its based on the rarity. So for lvling weapons I just grab 2 of each type with good stats, and switch em as they max out and reset the max'd one. I also dont bother wasting mods on anything less than a really good epic (or legendary if ever) since its crazy expensive to retrieve em all the time otherwise.

Same here but replace pvp by coop ;)

I don't reset any weapons. If I want to work on weapon leveling, I just burn through greens, blues, and whites then scrap them. I keep purples if the stats are good and the mastery bonus comes out really well. I pick up enough junk weapons to use, then scrap and make ark salvage.

Yeah, they changed the cost from ego level to rarity. Higher ego only really matters on shields and grenades anyway.

Reset costs are tied to rarity now I believe not ego level.

For me, I reset them based on a few conditions.

    1. I haven't found a better weapon, or weapon I want to see what the XP Bonus is.
    2. I am still leveling that weapon type.

Usually I keep two of what ever weapon type I am leveling the most, swap them out for the 20 minutes the XP reset takes.

Blue's are 4k, and Purples are 10k, neither of which is really cost prohibitive. Not sure what white/green/oranges are, but I don't think anything is over 30k now.

I keep a stash of white weapons with nano effects on them for weapon skill leveling. 1k script resets..

I always reset my best gun for that class. Saves on inventory and is just easier. meh

The prices used to be linked to EGO rating and ranging between 100-200k @3000+.

Now it seems like said before, it's linked to weapon rarity and is capped at 25k for orange weapons

Which is totally fine, and actually lower than what I expected them to change it to.

I have a purple FRC Saw that i reset each time its maxed out....too good of a weapon to get rid of. I will roll it over until I find something better.

Nope. Not worth it. It's a useless feature.

I keep the weapons I love that I've found. As I need to level up I just use what I've found until something better comes along or it's filled.

It was a nice idea to make the customers happy........but it's only really usefull with the low class weapons which end up being cheaper to just buy a new one like before.

Try finally getting your favorite purple weapon all modded to your liking. Then go to reset the exp. By the time it takes to get that much for the cost........you could have leveled some new weapons.

Despite the change they made to make the costs to reset XP cheaper I don't reset much. I'll usually just use up greens or blues if I want to level up.

Say I reset my purple SAW every time I maxed it. That salvage cost would start to add up. To the point I wouldn't be gaining much in salvage. I need that salvage to cover the insane mod slot costs.

I reset weapons all the time. Mostly blue/purple ones which I've modded and use. I don't see any reason to use crappy green/white weapons for leveling when the weapon xp is directly tied to the damage. More/faster damage = faster leveling. The Ark Salvage cost is very reasonable for all weapons, and it's not hard to get Ark Salvage. I have about 1 mill+.

Not really, most of the weapons worth modding are already max skill. If I were lower and leveling probably.

The new 4k ark salvage price to reset blue weapons is a godsend. I have an SMG I've invested a lot in, so I happily reset it when it's full.

God no. There are way better uses for ark salvage then dumping several days worth to reset a weapon.

never , i buy lockboxes with salvage and use the weapons i get in those to earn skills, the stats of a white is the same as a orange so why bother resetting when u can have it for free

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I can see that it comes down to in a way personal preference and how much you like a weapon if you are going to reset it. It also makes sense too not to do that too much as you can use salvage for lock boxes and synergy mod boxes.

I get now though why I see some people walking around with lower gear level than their actual EGO rating is. It is mainly because they found a weapon or shield/grenade they like and sticking with it until something better comes along.

Keep the best awesome perfect gun you love that would cost too much to reset. Then max out it's skill and start using it regular since your skill won't raise any higher for any weapons of it's type.

Even after they added resetting.....I would still carry 4 or 5 crap SAWs to max their weapon exp, and then break them down when maxed. Same as before resetting was added.

Crap......my plan if it can be implemented before FFXIV is to collect parts (guns and mods with the correct synergy) to make the perfect LMG. Doubt it'll ever happen though........the grinding for parts is monotonous.

Yeah me personally I have a few favorite weapons, but I just save them for when I max my weapon skill. When I am leveling a skill I just turn and burn whatever piece of shtako weapon I can find. Its the most "cost" effective way of doing things.

I reset them occasionally. Depends if I find one I like and I'm leveling that current skill.

Think I'll be doing like the other two, saving my favorite weapons and running up those weapon skills. Then I can take and just use my favorite weapons without worrying about skill xp anymore.

So if I'm understanding this right, once you hit lvl 20 on a weapon there is no reason to reset or change for a fresh weapon? That's what it would seem to be to me but thought I'd check.

Yeah once your skill in a type of weapon hits 20......it's maxed. At that point just finish filling the experience on whatever specific weapon of that type you want to use, and see what bonus pops up.

The last few weeks I have leveled up Infectors and BMG and used the same 2 weapons of each type to get to 20. They had good bonuses on them and were rare enough to not want to use alternatives just to save them. 4k on a blue didn't bother me too much. I am now leveling up SMG and have a few blues I reset skills on, 1 has really nice crit on it and the other is a spare for when the 1st is being reset. Actually have about 6 blue techmag pulsars, can't wait till I max skill so I can get inventory space back.

Using low lvl items can be about choice too, you may not have been given anything better up until that point, and at least we can reuse them now rather than put up with inferior weapons.

I have never once found another good FRC SAW with mag bonuses on equip and on mastery and with acid nano, so I keep the 329 EGO one I found over 2000 EGO levels ago.

When Sledge's comment about the experience bonus changing on experience reset becomes true, then I'll consider it.

I'm the same way with my VBI TACC AR. Really hoping I find something like it with some better stats soon. Since I finally maxed out my AR, I guess I'll work on my LMG stats.

I think we all have weapons like that. Mines...

First orange I ever got in live and awesomely enough also probably my favorite overall gun in the game. I love Wolverines. And its got such a nice little stat set on it too. But I don't reset it ever because even though it would only cost 25k salvage, I fear I'd lose its mastery bonus to something less useful.

Under current system, it doesn't reset mastery bonus, just the exp bar. It was meant to do both from what we understood, but like you, I have a weapon with a bonus on it I don't want to lose (+5% crit from the hip), so I don't mind that it doesn't reset the bonus.

Perhaps to make everyone happy, they should add another feature that resets the bonus. Sure, it makes it more expensive to reset bonus and exp, but it means people can choose what they want to do.

Sledge said differently. Now he may be wrong, it may be bugged, but I have no intention on taking chances.
