You can buy PAL games and play them on a PS3 bought in NA or the other way around and they play without problem.

You only have to pay attention to the BLES codes when buying DLC from the Store: DLC bought from NA don't work with PAL games and viceversa.

PAL games will NOT work on a PS3, if you live in North America or any other country that uses the NTSC standard. You would need some sort of PAL to NTSC convertor. I know this because I imported the PAL Collector's version of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, which included Mr. Drippy plush and a physical copy of the Spellbook. The game will NOT play on my system. This is because of the PAL and not the region. So, I bought the North American version which uses NTSC and not PAL. Japan also uses the NTSC standard, which means a Japanese game would work on a North American PS3. But you are correct about any DLC being region locked.

Really? I was always told it was the dlc that you couldn't mix but you could import games without a problem but if it was a us game I'd need. The US dlc, but if you've tried and it didn't work well you'll know best, glad I don't import.

I should clarify my initial post. The restriction is due to different TV broadcast standards (NTSC vs PAL), not region for PS3. BUT, this ONLY applies if you are using a standard definition TV and NOT HDTV. If you are using an HDMI cable, for instance, than an NTSC game WILL work if you live in UK (or other country that uses PAL broadcast). My TV is an older CRT model, and therefore will NOT play PAL games. Once I upgrade to an HDTV television, I would be able to play PAL or NTSC PS3 games on my North American PS3. Apologies for any confusion. Guess I will be upgrading for PS4 and Xbox One since both require HDTV to use. :p

EDIT: Here is a link to PS forums I found that better explains http://community.us.playstation.com/...290636#M673223

    actually, only xbox 1 will

the ps4 will also use S/PDF and standard A/V for those who don't have thousands to spend on hdtv, just one more way ps4 hits a much LARGER market.

Thanks for the clarification. I was confused because the back of the PS4 did not show a traditional AV port, just HDMI. Apparently, there is also an AUX port which could be used for standard A/V. Found some info here: http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/15...-analog-output

the "AUX" is a usb like camera jack for the eye

and yeah, there are some issues on if it will in the final cut or not.. atm it is seeming more like not. (probably because of the HDCP inherent in bluray content, which is what makes recording any bluray media in it's full high definition state difficult. (by record, I mean Copy one already in play, which snippets will be done, on both systems, with their own DVR type functions)

M8 you just need to have an account for each region, i used to import games from Videogamesplus in Canada so i needed an US account to buy the dlc`s.
And there are some online stores that sell virtual US PSN cards to put credits in the US account. I stoped doing that because the conversion between Euro/dollar was very unfair. $20 USDollar= €20 Euros.

Elder Scrolls Online will be Multi Platform but PS4 gamers have early access to the beta
I did not want to ever support Bethesda again but it looks real good.
Also i highly recommend The Last Of Us since you got a PS3, Game of the year for sure along with Tomb Raider.
Oh and yes i had many hours of enjoyment with Defiance so i say go for it

I think eso is good right now, without violating any nda I may or may not have been a part of.. I also wish it was doing some things different. But in all, I am enjoying it''s potential and what it has now.

well for me it was more so on how Bethesda has treated Sony customers,
I was actually disgusted when i saw them on the list of developers for PS4, lol
I think i saw ESO was another company involved in the making of it or so i thought
and that is why i signed up for early beta
