It is my understanding that drops from Arkfalls were turned off in during the beta.

    This is correct.

I ran an open world event to run around and open arkfalls which ended in killing some world boss type creature. the whole process took around 30 minutes of constant fighting and running around to secure 9th place in the damage charts out some 60+ people in the fight.

Nothing dropped from the boss or the event except some kind of XP. If they turned off loot for such open world events during beta then that was a pretty grave error since that alone (lack of loot) made me decide to wait and not purchase the game as I have more rewarding things to do in games after 30 minutes of intense/non-stop gameplay.

    Beta Testing

"Beta testing comes after alpha testing and can be considered a form of external user acceptance testing. Versions of the software, known as beta versions, are released to a limited audience outside of the programming team. The software is released to groups of people so that further testing can ensure the product has few faults or bugs. Sometimes, beta versions are made available to the open public to increase the feedback field to a maximal number of future users."

    Beta =/= Demo

also it should not be based off the top table... else there will be specific people who only focus on highest dps, not helping or cooperating... just doing parts that allow maximum dps to get to the top 3.

Stick to bmgs during arkfalls, thanks to constant healing + dps(switched between bmg and ar) I placed no less than 2nd in to 30+ arkfall events I've participated in.

Thanks for quoting what beta means. I had no idea what it meant to beta test something after 20 years of gaming xp. You missed my point in that turned off or not (beta or live) that shortfall lost them customers. I tested as required (the world event) and as a tester and potential customer that was my input and result.

Many people there that night said the same thing (not realizing they turned loot off). No one at the event seemed to know loot was off and Trion probably got a lot of tester feedback on that alone. "Word of mouth" now is that people get no loot from world events.

Maybe you can quote me what word of mouth does to sales for games?

Word of mouth is also that all the story content that was in beta is the entire thing and that Ego levels don't matter.

    Stupid is a stupid does.

There is loot dropping from the small events in the major Arkfalls. For each wave of the kill ones, or each time the crystal pulses and destroys all the enemies around at the destroy ones, there is a chance for an item to drop. It appears on the ground near the spire and everyone there that participated will see it and get to grab one.

But the loot for the final boss event hasnt been turned on yet as far as I know

I agree with this completely. People who do a lot of healing, people who revive a lot...

There are tons of ways of being a productive member of the team, so I hope it isn't tied simply to DPS.

It is no problem to do a lot of dmg and revive others the same time, i had highest dmg in about every single arkfall I reached and still had time to revive all players who died around me.
You only need about 5 seconds to revive another player, in this time you can't deal a lot of damage, but some others haven't checked this as it looks like and do not revive others, but I guess if they would add a little reward for each player revived it would be no problem anymore.

I always place in the bottom half ofArkfall events. I just like running around killing things and trying to help a few fallen comrades. I sure as hell hope Drops are not based on your amount of kills or where you place. For all those people that are always in the top 10 or so. Give them a Title that say "I just kicked your ***." and some special Pink outfit. ;)

That is not a fair assumption. I always place in the top three for damage, as SAWs are just overpowered. However, that's from keeping Archers and those sticky grenade lobbing tower things dead, targeting weak points in Crystals/Monarchs, etc...

I'm not going to waste ammo just firing on a crystal with no weak points present. I'm not going to kill the enemies that aren't a threat. I revive people as I see them, though I won't heal people as I've no interest in being a heal-slave.

So yes, it should be based on the table or else people can just jump in at the last second and get good loot. Screw that crap.

The scores add in healing and revives too

Most score comes from DPS or healing. More so DPS.

So you use a high DPS main weapon then an infector which will put you at top everytime.

Playing a support role like say kiting elites around while others DPS crit points will place you bottom of the list.

Don't like the score board one bit, I think all players who participate should be rewarded equally as long as they reach a certain, pre determined threshold. Rift's system is vastly superior and a perfect example how to do these events. To start they had a score board system but they quickly threw that out, suprising they are repeating this mistake in Defiance.....
