There is absolutely no signs indicating that this game is thriving. It fell out of the 360s activity list well over a month ago, the people who posted Steam numbers talked about how laughably low they are and there's no way in hell the PS3 version is doing any better. Game has been a complete failure. Had the potential to be something special but ended up a bland single player "MMO" that is insanely inferior to the game it copied (Borderlands).

Does it make easier to wait?

You already know that 5 dlc will be released between season one and season tow, with the first one late july. What do you really need more?

See, there's this thing professional gaming companies do.. it's called "communication with the playerbase".

I know it's a hard concept here but yeah, a lot of companies do that so their players don't feel as though the company is just sucking money from them in a cash shop or sub and regurgitating content. (which many end up doing anyways) :P

But if you like staying in the dark as a player/consumer, have at it. But you cannot expect everyone else to be happy at that.. just walking about being blind and riding cars aimlessly because they've done just about everything already.

Especially when they've already PAID for such content.

Also, DCUO isn't like Defiance where you don't need an excuse to do anything... you just shoot crap. Most of the players here don't really care about a story.. only the forum posters. People in game want to run over bugs and ram bosses or jump cars with no real reason to do it.

In DCUO, the game is built on a story. The story is told from a myriad of perspectives on the Hero side and also on the Villain side. There are different roles to play and try out; tank, healer, dps. There are different styles and looks that people roll to go along with those as part of the game.. an Ice tank who looks like Lobo, a mystic healer who looks like Voodoo, a dps who looks like Deadpool.. the entire focus of the game is different than this, and for a lot of the people that's the draw. It's an iconic brand and as such people were happy to reroll.

You don't get such satisfaction here. You want to be a Castie? No. Wait until DLC. You want to be any other race? No... we haven't thought that far down the line yet as to what's possible. This game has no reroll or replay whatsoever as a new player. In fact, there isn't any reason to level up more than one weapon other than you're bored.

You want content? Here's a Siege. Oh wait.. you like that too much. We need to take that away so you don't overexhaust yourself and then want something else.. but don't worry, we'll bring it back again with the next DLC as 'new content'.

Seriously, Defiance has been nothing but one big shell game from the beginning where they keep hiding the pea. DCUO whether you think (again personal taste) was average or not, has put the content out and keeps it coming and they are doing well because of it.

I just purchased my ps3 the other day and I've fallen in love with DCUO, excited to hit level cap and pick up the dlc content as I've been told its worth the buy. As mmos go, Defiance destroyed my hopes of a decent console mmo, DCUO saved those hopes.

    Again sir, perspective.

There is a difference between replying to what someone says in a quote/post you make (me) and someone running around the ramparts pretending to shoot 'trolls' off the walls because someone posted not-so-glowing things about a game clearly in trouble (you) since Page 1.

Be sure to let us all know if you feel the same after a number of random DCUO disconnects during any given night. ;)

I'll tell you what I did during those nine months... be completely bored with the lack of content in that game back in 2011. And their forums were filled with people posting about the "lack of end game" in DCUO.

It's a never ending cycle, once it's all said and done.

I have to agree with everyone this game has no death date they're JUST GETTING STARTED
the content is fine sieges were taken out because the PLAGUE ENDED. theyre putting in the VOLGE. DCOU cant be compared to defiance. Defiance is ever changing. its incomplete and will keep updating and patching. But also guys keep in mind this game reflects the show and vice versa. they cant force content like you would like.

Now one, MMOs are usually rather resilient so I expect Defiance to be around for some time. Servers are cheap and as long as there is fresh blood coming through the series, at least a skeleton crew can be financed. This would not be the only MMO zombie still walking. Defiance makes August easily.

Now two, new content and interesting DLCs I would not to be so sure. Can't quote because on forums not available any more and not to be quoted from but the DLCs were to come out while the season was running. No fixed dates, just expectations as I remember them. This has changed and I would not be surprised if it changed further. Thankfully, I did not preorder the DLC because I had already seen the Trion development team in action during alpha/beta. Now three, most of them are layed off so not much hope for improvement from me.

The EQ comparison was funny though. EQ had a lot of content and incredibly low progression speed. So the EQ team could actually provide much of the player base with meaningful goals to strive for much faster than players would achieve them. Defiance is the exact opposite, tiny content and lightning fast pseudo progression. There is not much to do and doing it only provides some fleeting enjoyment of the mediocre story.

I really wonder if we will ever find out what happens to Von Bach?

I said something along the lines of the game being 100% dead in August.

Tell me, am I not correct? This game has zero dlc, zero end game content, has not seen a major patch in ages and is overall a complete and utter failure especially in the sales market.

Well my prediction is coming true... is it not? Or do the fanboys wish to still debate that the game is in good condition and we dont need to push the developers to actually give us content because they are just the best group of guys and gals to ever code!

I remember your post and I thought at the time that the game would probably become a "ghost town" two months after the show's season finale. So I was a little bit more optimistic than you.

The game is too niche for mainstream gamers and by the time anything of import was going to be fixed in an effort to keep people playing it was going to be well after the game had been abandoned. Over the last few weeks the players have indeed started leaving the game.

I say this in complete sadness, you see, I love this game, warts and all. I just wish it had been better - I wanted to be playing this for a long time.

16 days played, 3100+ ego, 1 trophy left for platinum on PS3 NA.

IF the first DLC is released in mid July, it will respark and interest for some of the players. They are adding some end game content besides new open world sieges. If you purchase the DLC, you'll have access to arenas. They have vaguely been described as clan versus clan competitions. This may be too little too late, but it's something. I have the season pass, so I'm in it for the long haul. Here's to hoping we get some better content with future DLC.
