Everything changes at the start of phase 4. Phase 4 characters will NOT be wiped prior to launch. So when phase 4 starts, you are actively working on your launch character. That's when the game begins. =)

Obie, what's our clan comp., job-wise? I'm going PLD, as planned. Do we have a dedicated WHM? After that, it's all flexible. Incidentally, I'll be working on WHM after PLD, so I'll have both tank/heal roles available ASAP. After that, I'll dedicate my FFXIV life to becoming the best fisherman in Eorzea, and I'll fistfight anyone who says otherwise.

We're all going to be running the raid content together, both guilds. We've got 2 or 3 Bards (although I swear I'm staying as Archer), a Marauder, a White Mage, and a Dragoon. So pretty much everything is covered, just do whatever class you enjoy the most and don't worry about filling a spot if you don't like it.

How do you not ever get any info? It's pretty much all we talk about on skype lol. Also you're one of the Archer/Bards that I listed.

I'll be on all day tomorrow, but I probably won't be in the game. I'm going to be working on Kupwned.com, and getting it ready for the Open Beta of ffxiv. But if anybody needs help with anything in-game or wants to run something, just hit me up on skype and as long as I'm not afk, I'll join ya.

I've never played a class because it's "needed." I always prefer support roles. I've played a healer in just about every MMORPG since the original Everquest. I started dabbling in tanking in Aion and Rift, picking it up pretty quickly. FFXIV is the first time I'll be a dedicated tank right off-the-bat, and I'm looking forward to it. Come on, who -doesn't- want to punch me in the face?

Alright cool. I was just making sure you weren't picking a class on something other than fun factor. I've done that in the past and then I regret it. Wanted to make sure you were going to enjoy ffxiv :)

Paladin is a great choice, though. We've got a Warrior, but nobody has said Paladin yet. Any idea what Crafting class you'll do?

You know, I haven't looked into it much yet. I generally tend to favor armorsmithing with my tanks and some sort of alchemical route with my healers. But...I MUST fish. Seriously, I don't know why, but I freakin' loved fishing in FFXI. What are the gathering/crafting skill limits? (As in, how many can you have?)

Every character can max out every single class - fighting, crafting, and gathering. You can do everything, no restrictions. Not only that - but each crafting class has some unique abilities that you CAN use cross-class just like the fighting classes.
