Yeah, I don't *always* attack someone even if they're my level. Sometimes it's exciting to help them fight some random spawn boss mob, and then you /bow to each other. But for the most part red=dead if they're my level.

But even with world incentives and pvp objectives in the open world, people still didn't PvP there as much as Battlegrounds. And Arenas are even more successful than Battlegrounds, although I really hate Arenas. I really love large battles, and I'd be all for a PvP server if it actually meant large battles. But even on a PvP server all the good PvP is in Battlegrounds, so there really is no point to be on a PvP server. All you get is a very rare fair fight, and lots of ganking.

Oh yeah. Plus some. We'll probably just take a group vote, as I know some of us won't want PvP. I don't really mind either way to be honest. I just think PvP is more exciting.

I want to kick you in, but I'm no spartan :). Soo.. *gets master chief to kick you into the well* That will have to do. But yes there are 2 groups. Heaven's Sword, which is Obderiath's clan, and mine, Vulgar Display of Power. Which is subject to a name change for FF14 possibly, but doubtful.

Well, if it comes down to a line over the PvP issue, I'll definitely be joining Heaven's Sword. If there -is- no PvP ruleset, I'll be pushing for official/unofficial RP. Generally less @sshats. =)

I would do RP servers to if it was chosen.

I haven't seen anyone say otherwise yet, but I sincerely doubt the game will even have PvP stuff, except for things like Ballista, which XI had. I'm cool with whatever. I'm almost positive I'll love the game, and the only thing I really give a turd-toss about is playing with people I enjoy who I know check their drama at the door. Which means ShiMo is out. He's like watching a full seasons of Desperate Housewives in one sitting. He is also sexually loose.

I said they could just join us, but we've both had the clans around forever, and I think Jack feels the way I do that a lot of people would be disappointed if we didn't go by our respective names.

We've been around since about 2002, and I think VDoP has been around for about that long.

PvP features announced for launch:

Colliseum
4v4 (possibly other #'s, but was mentioend PvP was designed to be balanced as a team sport not solo)
Ranking system based on Colliseum with matching system
PvP gear and seperate earned PvP abilities
Arena design (columns and stairs mentioned) play a role in PvP strategy.
Captured Primals are allowed in PvP.

In one of the first patches after launch they will add in Frontlines, some type of large scale PvP system limited to frontline zones only.

So no PvP'ing just anywhere, seperate PvP/PvE balance, no PvP servers, Arena system and later a large scale PvP system.


Also, Jack is changing the name of his clan for FFXIV - maybe, depending on if we can think up a good name. And once we decide on a name I'm gonna make a killer website for it :)

Mal just discovered that FFXIV ARR has Player Housing, He has lost his marbles.. And so have I cause thats a pretty awesoem feature :D.

So, PvP is 4v4 and another mode. there is NO open world PvP, They said Ganking woudl ruin the experience. There IS player Housing, You can customize your Chocobo and it becomes you companion, as it can help you in battle and becomes a party member as well. And other cool news Mal has found.

"As it stands now, there will be two types of PvP areas. The first is the Coliseum, a structure built by all three Grand Companies to serve as a training ground for their soldiers. Players will join teams and be matched against similarly skilled teams in a classic arena format. The other option is zones designated as free PvP areas, warzones that carry increased risk for players and will make that clear when you're entering them.

Hoping for more open-world stuff? You'll be slightly disappointed. Yoshida and the other developers don't feel that open-world ganking fits the feel of FFXIV, so there will not be free-for-all rules in general."

So it has my favorite type of PvP, PvP zones, So if you wonder into a PvP zone then you'll get to PvP pretty much how you want in it. I like that idea better then an entire server Just for ganking.

I'll be getting it no doubt, just not sure if i'm waiting until the Ps4 release or not yet.

The class i'll more than likely be playing will be an archer but i'm going to try out tanking in the next beta phase so put me down for a Paladin as well :D

If the rumor i heard about not needing to buy two copies of the game is true then i will, actually now that i think about it i could very well have dreamt that rumor up. I've been dreaming a lot about Final Fantasy of late. XD
