    Sensible snacks while playing (PC)
    Hi @ all!

I thought I'ld start a thread concerning a problem all PC players know:

You are online, playing a nice session with a couple of people, don't want to be left behind but suddenly you feel hungry...

What is your food of choice in that situation?

I usually had instant pizza or potatoe chips + beer but both can be pretty messy while using mouse and keyboard...

I'm not much of a sweet tooth so biscuits and stuff are no real option.

Any advice on this life or death matter?

Rold Gold Pretzels are my go to snack in the evening. If you are like my wife and you have to have something to 'dip' use salsa with baked chips if you are looking for something lighter than the normal.

it Depends if its midday weekend I go for some beer and veggies with ranch dip, if its late at night I go for the energy drinks and some pringles.

But those sugar snap pea pods sound real good. (^)

    Myth
My gaming snacks have veered to the very sensible side as I have no intention on putting back on the 50+ lbs I worked so hard to get rid of last year. Now I have a mix of nuts, dried banana chips, and raisins - or an apple or orange on hand.

Popcorn is actually a good substitute for chips, crackers, cookies or other more sugary/starchy snacks.

I like grapes, apple slices and roasted unsalted peanuts. Grapes are pretty perfect because they are pretty clean and are natires bite sized snack. To drink, give me coffee or give me death. It's my last "bad" vice. I quit smoking several years ago, don't drink alcohol to excess and never really touch junk food, soda or candy. After coffee, good old fashioned water.

And to cap the night off a good peaty, smokey single malt scotch. ;)

Oh you can keep your coffee and you can stop calling it a vice because according to a huge epidemiological study funded by the NIH (>200000 probands by far the biggest study concerning coffee consumption and health so far...) coffee is good for you.
If you correct the data for confunders like smoking, sports and consumption of red meat/vegetables coffee drinkers have a higher life expectancy than non-coffee drinkers as they have a significantly reduced risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease while having only a minor increased risk for some types of cancer.

So in short: "Coffee is good for you!"

If I am playing all day my eating schedule usually is something like this.

Morning: Nice peanut butter sandwich on wheat bread (gets that protein in you to wake up and have energy)
Lunch: Maybe a turkey sandwich or if I am playing i sometimes forget to eat this meal lol
Dinner: Usually more protein.. Chicken, Steak

Throughout the day I usually can be found snacking on beef jerky, fruit (great for energy), pretzels and vegetables

As for drinks I usually go for coffee in the AM and during the day diet mountain dew, lots of water and when i feel like i need a kick i will go with a sugarfree redbull or 5 hour energy shot..

If you are okay being seen by eating crisp with a spoon then technically anything you eat is acceptable as long as you eat it with a spoon.

Majority of food I eat is with a spoon, if it's crisp with dip, i pick up the crisp with the spoon, drop it in the salsa with the spoon and pick it up with the spoon.

    Spoon.

Very interesting I might attempt to eat everything with a spoon and when someone asks why i am eating food that is bad for me I will simply say.. Spoon

    That's it.

The spoon gets incredible dirty around the rim so lick it clean. To avoid deep packing crisps also, make sure to lay your food out in a bowl of some sort. That way you have a portion that looks 'acceptable' (and not the pigging out way) where as only you know that you have hid your other portions in the crisp bag somewhere secret for just in case you run out.

I tried pringles the other day while playing my PC, if I had a spare moment I would try and get one, but I would get shot at and then I would have to slide my hand out of the tube which I don't have enough time to. So I often just wack my keyboard with the tube.....

    I don't recommend them....

I once cut my gum with a pringle. Was so much blood.

    I too don't recommend them.

I normally break the pringles into tiny pieces and put them in a bowl. This helps me eat it easily.

I have either cheese, monterey jack, and crackers and to quench my thirst I enjoy a nice lukewarm cup of Hot Chocolate.
That or Cheetos, a sandwich, hot pockets, or any left overs.

I like to kick it into fat kid mode and have some pop and a reasonable bowl of peanut butter & syrup for my late nights, major caffine and sugar rush. Than when time for bed, you sleep soundly :D

White flour & sugars are not so good for you.
I usually eat nuts, grapes, bananas, sometimes my hommade oatmeal with small fruits, protein powder & yogurt in it.

Salted and roasted watermelon seeds. Doesn't stick your fingers, tastes good and isn't fattening. If you have a little bit of space between your teeth it's REALLY annoying getting hard pieces of seed stuck between them all the time - be sure to have a durable piece of toothpick handy. Lasts forever as you can't eat it fast. Strong teeth recommended.

Monster Energy Drink, as ice cold as possible. Caffeine, sugar and vitamins.

Leijona - imported finnish licorice candy with a weird tar/smoke taste.

As for the hungry part - oven baked cheese sandwiches or some hot kind of pizza, preferrably with jalapenos or added tabasco :)

Carrot sticks, mini tomatoes, and maybe some ranch depending on whether I want to mess with dressing that day/moment.

lol, Ok... then refrain from the meat lovers pizza and go with light ranch, keep the sweet tea. I think that's pretty sensible snacking.

I'm Samoan, there is no such thing as sensible snacking! lol

I offset the weight gain by playing whilst running on a treadmill.

Yeah brother soda is one of the biggest things that contribute to weight gain, I've seen folk cut soda out of there diet and they dropped a ton of weight real quick, guess I'm blessed because I've never really liked the soda because of the carbonation.
