    Bring back proper instruction books
How I miss the days gone by when you bought a new game, unwrapped it, opened the box and found a good thick instruction book full of info and pictures.

I wish gaming companies would stop cutting costs and giving you a leaflet that sometimes dos not even show you the controls.

True for many games heck i just like to read them. Defiance however is easy as heck no real need for a book
Hell this was even my first MMO type game and i learned it fairly quick

I agree but with any MMO they change things SO much it would be outdated right off.

What they SHOULD do is have a comprehensive official guide they maintain online and a link to get there inside the Disk packet or digital download. Beyond patch updates there really isn't too many guides out there for any game. LOTRO had the lorebook for a long time, but lately that is wrong with all of the updates.

what I hate, is the publisher is saying it is trying to save money/go green. Then include 4+ of ads in the box but not one control sheet. Batman AC was one.

I was thinking about this once.

Do you feel like games have a fuller tutorial opening now than they used to? I kind of feel like older games didn't tell you very much to get started. This might be because with only a few buttons on your controller things weren't too complicated. But I think that at some point people decided they wanted you playing the game to learn it, instead of reading a booklet. But what the hell do I know, I once almost killed myself trying to open a jar of pickles with a fork.

This bothers me, too. Who are they saving money for? Knock a nickel off the price of the game and I'll believe them.

The xbox360 release for The Witcher 2 didnt hold back... you got an instruction book AND a quest guide with the standard edition. It made the case feel weighty and you felt like you were getting something special.

Ah yes, the fabled instruction booklet, how i miss the smell of those straight out of the box. It's like a new car smell for some folks. Good times.

One of the best releases for reading material in years.

That was the best thing about buying a new game, just sitting there reading the book from beginning to end. It sucks these days.
