Weapon Mod Slots & EGO Rating

I understand that as you level up the number of open mod slots on your weapons change. But does anyone know how many you will get at each EGO? I remember getting weapons with all four slots open when I was in the 2000s, then none, then one, now Im 3200 and am getting three slots on everything.

im almost 2600 and im getting two slots open on pickups

Off the top of my head here but...

EGO 1 to 1000 - Gradual increase from 0 or 1 slots open to 4 slots
EGO 1000 to 1500 - Weapons come with 4 mod slots open or 0
EGO 1500 to 2000 - Weapons come with either 4, 0, for 1 free slot
EGO 2000 to 2300 - Weapons have 1 free mod slot
EGO 2300 to 3200 - Weapons will have 2 free slots
EGO 3200 and up - Weapons will have 3 free slots
And I think sometime after 4000 you get 4 slots on everything again. Not sure though, that's only what I've heard, I'm at 3500 myself so I wouldn't know first hand.

There was a table of it somewhere which im too lazy to dig up for you.

However your interest is probably when you can get all four slots open by default.

It starts at 4000 ego but chances are small and increases as you level up more. You really get it at 100% of the time after 4500.

So confusing and seemingly pointless, makes me wonder what they were thinking when they designed the system. Well thanks for giving me an idea of what EGO ratings to look out for.

Yeah the system is confusing to me too lol I'm at 4200 and back to 4 mod slots now. It's a crazy amount of salvage to open more mod slots when you start losing them all

The problem is at vendors (hidden and reps), you can buy a good weapon with one bonus and 4 slots at 1600 ego, once you reach 1600 ego you will found a weapon with one bonus and one slot!!
Then at 2400 you have a weapon with one bonus and two slots... If at least you'll find weapons with 2 bonus and one slot I'll be ok, but here you have better weapons at low level... that's shtako...

I had to hold off completing all the fully mod XXX weapon pursuits until 4000+ because I missed out doing that in the 1500's.

That is why I always tell people to complete that before 1500.

This is pretty accurate, give or take 50 levels.

EGO Rating 0 - 399: 1 slot
EGO Rating 400 - 799: 2 slots
EGO Rating 800 - 1199: 3 slots
EGO Rating 1200 - 1599: all 4 slots
EGO Rating 1600 - 2399: 1 slot
EGO Rating 2400 - 3199: 2 slots
EGO Rating 3200 - 3999: 3 slots
EGO Rating 4000 - 5000: all 4 slots

That sounds about right. Wish they posted this somewhere so it became common knowledge, prolly cause more than a few headaches.
