Its essentially borderlands, and I had 4 psn friends playing till 3 months before 2 came out. I didn't even think there would have been a second sharing your experience.

This is massive borderlands without the dark comedy, you got super speed(no phasing) think lilth, cloak zero, overcharge rick, decoy zero, guns are class-less, and max of 12 perks in a loadout forces you to create your own class, for example none of my perks in beta were for health or defense or dps, so other players did different jobs in pve & pvp such as tanking.

Unlike borderlands which I shelved again till that itch arises, I always found mic users in game or through third party, and one third party chat had 22 betas members doing arkfallls just acting like borderlands partyx10. In borderlands 1 half the lobbies had 1 guy each year or so out, at least here in defiance those players will be on the same server

I think it'll run as long as the show. In this case i doubt you can have one without the other.
PSN -> xiiego add me if you wish.

Stupid Drunk may have it right there in a nutshell. Looking upon this game as an expanded/inflated/MMO version of Borderlands might be just the perspective some need. Now, myself...I tend to take this with my friends a little differently. In fact I'm playing this like I do with my MMORPGs...in character acting and taking the pace a lot slower. This will lengthen the experience greatly, as it does in most of my online RPs. This could explain why I'm still under level 20 in SWTOR, even though I've been playing it since Launch. Heh!

    Cheers mates!

This isn't definitely not the kind of "OMG! WOW ADDON #13 IS COMING OUT TOMORROW" hype, but I think there will be a large amount of people playing at least when the show starts airing und does some publicity for the game itself. After that, we'll see ...

Also Defiance is no "big title" from my point of view but rather a nice little MMO developed by a nice little studio that probably doesn't have the funds for gigantic ad campaigns. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing, however everyone that casually reads some press about gaming, as I do, for sure already heard about the game since there were already some beta previews on famous gaming sites. Gaming sites that usually draw the MMO community to another game for a limited amount of time.

I agree with Stupid Drunk that people should not look at Defiance like they do with MMORPGs like Guild Wars 2 but as a "Borderlands Online" - and same as that it does its job pretty well.

I think it'll be pretty much a niche title. On consoles, the majority are fast food gamers, and will quit and move on to the next pretty game, or another Copy of Duty.
    Madness in its sweetest form.

    [Mr Obvious is here !]
Hardcore gamers play a lot and provide sufficient benefits to ensure a good longevity.
Casual gamers don't play a lot and don't provide sufficient benefits, resulting in a poor longevity.

Now, from an end-game perspective, if they provide enough content then hardcore players will stay.

To see this as a metaphor, take a train ! If the head of train is fed correctly, the next wagons will follow !
    Simple as that.
