It's not only PvP, but the game as a whole. There's literally nothing to do right now, unless you're grinding out EGO levels or hunting loot. There's been nothing significant added since launch, with a game that is already sparse on content. It's like Trion is out of touch with their community. It seems that way based on a lot of the outlined changes thus far.

Now playing games that actually have PvP.
The EGO/Perk Slot changes mean there is even less reason to play and even less to strive for. Oh well.

That's not directed at you directly Xpld - It's for all the top tier PvP players moaning about PvP not occuring frequently enough.
Just using Xpld as a quote since it was the most succint in expressing the hope of new players to Defiance and by extention, PvP.
Yeah, the PvP environment Trion created isn't perfect.
Get over it.
This is the PvP environment you have right now.
As the top tier players, take some responsibility for the state it's in.
So what if there are new players from the steam sale? Playing against you guys, they won't join the PvP community.
As if any of you will show any restraint what so ever against the new guys.
It's just fresh lamb to the slaughter. A fresh chance to screenshot ridiculous scores and results for posterity.
If you have to think about whether or not you need to restrain your potential against a player, you're already going to be dead against someone you shouldn't be restrained against. It's not feasible for me to consider who I am shooting at before I shoot; it's neither fair to good players since it robs them of practice, it's not legitimate practice for the average player, and it's not fair to me for having to play below my abilities. Either way you slice it, nobody has fun doing that.
Ideally, Trion should be introducing some sort of elo-based matchmaking to facilitate competition against similarly-skilled players. Hopefully the introduction of such a system would encourage more people to play the competitive maps if they do not have to risk playing against the top tier players all the time. However, there's also the potential for there to be less frequent PvP matches as a whole, which isn't fun for anyone of any skill level.

It's funny you mention that, cause most of us dont post screen shots or video of anything. It's only when we get accused of something, or the occasion me and ark posted our FY scores in a thread saying "Post your best FY score."
There isn't a single person on this list that has said anything about "smashing" on new players, or showed any kind of hostility or hunger towards griefing new players. On the contrary, it's unknown people that are doing most the trash talking, video/screenshot posting.
We want more people to play with, the top 20 list isn't a team of 20 players, for the most part we are all spread out, and rarely even end up on the same team. I can't count more then 10 occasions out of the HUNDREDS of matches I've been in where I was teamed up with Ark or Decimas, anyone from Core for that matter, it's a rare occasion. So really even IF new players jump in, you have a mixture of power houses fighting each other. It's not like one group just devours another.
Even though I will say, there have been times where its just me from the list, vs like 4-5 people from the list, those matches don't go so well for the team I'm on haha, but it's all good, because at the end of EVERYTHING we all still get the same rewards lol.
If new people joining, get rolled, and decide to quit pvp completely because of it, then they don't belong on the battlefield to begin with IMO. I don't want a bunch of quitters and whiners or afkers on any team I play on. I didn't hone in on my skills and play style till about a month and a half of playing this game, once I got it, I ran with it, and I'll probably continue to run with it, the point is, none of us supporting PVP quit playing PVP, even after countless times of getting killed by broken infectors, or getting 1 shotted in the back by some random cloak player we've never heard of, we all continue to play, hone our skills, and get better. THAT'S the point of the PVP community a lot of us want to create. I RARELY see anyone asking for tips or help, or someone to show them strats, It's mostly people just looking for the next cheap way to get a kill.
Maybe that's just the nature of Defiance's PVP beast. It's not the top tier players jobs to let new players get free kills, we don't throw matches, none of us are quitters, none of us cheat, or hack, or look for glitches that make us 100% invincible. We get in game, and mash faces, and we welcome all new players to be right by us, laying down cover fire as we do it.
