    Tabula Rasa!?!

Hey all, just wondering if anyone here played the ill-fated PC "shooter MMO" Tabula Rasa?

Defiance makes me think of it and it feels like it's the game that TR should have been. Great shooting elements mixed with MMO flare in a sci-fi setting.

It feels similar in that both were FPS mmo's set in a future-world type setting.

Honestly TR had potential but thanks to corporate shenanigans (Which are pointless to go over) it was fighting an up-hill battle from day 1. It also needed several more months of work before going live.

Almost accepted a GM position for that game, in fact. Rather glad I didn't.

I loved playing Tabula Rasa and this game definitely reminds me of it, especially when going on a shotgun rampage

Would be great if Trion would incorporate the invasions from that game. Mutants swoop in in helis and assault our bases and such. Or a mighty caravan of raiders!

Well, yes and no. It would add a nice distraction when in social hubs, but on the other hand; if you don't defend you lose that settlement unless you take it back and players out on a quest will get annoyed if they go back to complete it and found out that it is now an evil alien self-service restaurant.

In Rift I loved the way that if you left rifts open, the invaders would swarm out and attack the roads, little outposts, turn up at the city gates. In GW2 the dynamic events were often tidal. You push the mobs back, then they push you back. Outposts like Nebo Terrace were lost until reclaimed, but Defiance, like GW2 doesn't need those places to be held for missions to be completed. The dynamic event was itself a mission, much as the arkfalls are.

I hope they put in some crazy invasion stuff. Tabula Rasa invasions were f'ing epic. It made the game IMHO.

I played both, and I really miss both of them. I wish one of these "AAA" Publishers would buy the rights and re-release the game. TABULA RASA has Huge Potential!

I always had the impression that NCSoft nixed TR, because they were miffed at Richard Garriott. I am glad to see he is back in game development. Richard was always years ahead of the pack.
