That is until I decided to tackle Moonshine Shack, and now I'm almost ready to chuck it, and go play some Tiny Tina. I understand challenging is good, but 8000 points for silver is nigh on impossible, and more importantly, it's just not fun in the least.

At leat with Bolinas Smeltery, you could pretty easily pass it with the right perks (height advantage or whatever it's called). But with Moonshine Shack, the problem isn't ammo, or staying alive, it's the freakin' multiplier.

I'm seriously wondering if the game is bugged, or at least if the Xbox version is broken, because I watch YouTube videos of people doing it, and even when they're hit enough to die, their multiplier only drops a few points. I can get the multiplier up to 12 or 15 early in the challenge, but then if I run across the yard once, and take the slightest damage to my shield, it drops to 1.

And if I try to hide and then pop out and shoot, it drops to 1 after a few seconds.

How the feakin' hell do you keep the multiplier up enough to get a decent score?
Use Scavenger, Gunslinger, Sucker Punch, and Defensive Perks. Use a Respark shield. You can shoot from distance if you aim to shoot. Learn the pattern of the spawns and just work your way the safest way while having frequent enough kills to keep that multiplier up.

There are a lot of good suggestions here and it can be done. I did it without using the ammo perks and all-wish I'd had them because it took me forever. It didn't help that at some point the game decided to constantly play the animation of dirt being thrown around when the raider bunkers popped up and open. That never went away and made it all but impossible to see who I was trying to shoot. I had to keep trying to re-start the game to make it go away and it wouldn't. So I just quit trying to do that hotshot and came back a few days later.

All of the hotshots have some sort of trick to them it seems. The chicken one is that you only shoot the same two chickens. The marksman one (not Bolinas) gives you cloak bonuses and you need to use perks to your advantage. This one uses ammo bumps and works best if you can hit multiple targets at once.

"Moonshine Shack is ruining the game for me"

    lol, best thread title ever.

Is it really ruining the ENTIRE game for you? an easy side mission? you get ammo when you kill a guy. you only have 3 to start. Try for double kills (when they are grouped) to save on ammo. Only fight where you have cover (around those 2 trucks to the left of the cabin is good). Make sure you don't lose your crit multi. Always reload.

    Should take around 2-10 tries

So I finally passed it. I tried it almost every day for the last couple weeks and still didn't even come close. Then I spent some time leveling up my pump shotguns to level 5, and I think the extra falloff damage really helped.

But the biggest help was when I respec'ed to add the Gunslinger perk. The first time I tried it after adding Gunslinger, I scored over 11,000. That really helped with one shot one kill, and let me keep my multiplier up around 20 for most of the time.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

just grab all the +ammo perks around the board. people have said all over the net they'd get up to like 80 ammo in zero time. I personally didn't think about it and didn't have any helpful perks, had my shotty at like lvl 3, and used a 1200 hp 3s respark. I found starting off to kill the guy in front, run to the right and kill those 2, then the 2/3 coming around the corner and keep killing as you make a run counter-clockwise. Go behind those fenced in areas and sit behind their spawn and just shoot em as they come out. Think once you get up to around 28x multiplier is when you start raking in the points. To anyone trying to farm this for shotty mods, just go do the one in the beginning of the game. A LOT easier.
