The reason(s) that I don't PvP are the following:
    1. In my experience, the people who PvP have some kind of edge over other players
    2. Causes too much stress and frustration and I want to relax and have fun
    3. Only interested in achieving pursuits and solo most of the time
    4. I am a casual gamer and the game is not my whole life imho.

Too old and slow, perfer team-work based grouping, play the game to have fun, Not really a clan person. If I could find a clan that is made up of mature folks that use voice chat and are not "Raid minded" and like to experiance the story line - well then I might join. ;-)

I think some people lose a few times and give up.
It took major adjustment I am a COD and BF player. I have never played halo and I think the cloak and decoy and blur is idiotic as is the lack or gravity and the bunny hoppers. Nothing worse that the infector bugs filling up my vision.. BUT I am not a quitter. So while I would get 0 ills at first I did not give up or sit and moan. I went back learned the spawns and maps which is the key to any MP. I settled with the gun I used most of the game and my play style adjusted to get used to hopping people and non aim weapons. Now I often get plenty of kills come close to the top of the leaderboard. I only play if clan people want to or to do my dailys. I would play more though it the wait times were not bad.
I think PVP sucks but I think most people not wanting to play do not like losing.

For me it boils down to two things.

    1. It's summer, so I don't want to take this game very seriously, things like pvp make me want to take it seriously.
    2. I am not in a clan, also related to number 1, because it's summer and if I join a clan, again I will want to take the game more seriously.

When winter comes I will be looking for a game to play somewhat hardcore/seriously for 6 months (damn you MN winters) but until then I will be enjoying the summer/fall.

I don't PVP because I am more than tired of everyone who complain about infector

I also don't PVP because I am too much of an easy target. I make my team lose. puahahah!

It's hard to say, but mostly, it just comes down to my aversion to conflict with other people. I'm perfectly capable of it, I simply don't like it. It's pointless and meaningless to do so in a game. If I'm going to engage in conflict with another human being, I'm gonna need more motivation than just being on the opposite team. It's the same reason I don't watch boxing. If one of the boxers had slept with the others' wife the night before, then THAT would be a fight, and worth watching. Otherwise, it's just two dumb apes beating each other into unconsciousness in a simulated cage for no reason at all.

What do I get if I were to bother grinding through all those cheaters and cheap-shot artists who play PvP? Nothing but aggravation, is what I'd get. Prestige? For what? Being the biggest a-hole in the game? Thanks, but no. I've gotten into a fist-fight with armed robbers on two separate occasions while working convenience stores and the like. And won. I've done the real thing. PvP offers me no thrill, so there is no upside. However, I still get the aggravation/frustration downside, so there's no balance. I have every reason to hate it, and no reason to like it.

I play games to relax, and to ESCAPE all the jerks I'm forced to deal with regularly. WHY, for Cosmos' sake would I seek more of them out? Give me cooperative play any day of the week.

Some good and interesting answers. Those don't believe they ahve the skill or simply don't like it I agree, why do something you don't enjoy.

Those that complain about things being unbalanced I also agree it is unbalanced, this new update will help fix some issues however. Maybe it gets better.

Bunny hopping is a matter of "If you can't beat them join them" otherwise YES you won't get far. This is a very "adapt" game or it's just all out slaughter.

Those that complain about team work i am 100% there with you, i have many times seen people just watch and not get invovled rather than back team mates up or ran as a group. Having half the team at a node in FY when you only have 1 node isn't gonna win the match.

More importantly i agree that in the time it takes to do a SW or FY you could have racked up many keys from arkfalls.

I started this thread to see if Trion offered greater incentive, would it outweigh the BS things such as unbalanced weapons etc. I think if a decent amount of keys were on offer for the time perhaps more people would get involved and group with friends n run around.

    • Shotgun/Cloak users
    • Infectors
    • Big Boomer spammers
    • And any combination of the above.

Now, I know that infectors are incredibly debatable on the forums, but from my point of view, they're overpowered. The only people who defend them are the people who use them religiously. They spout constant praise for them, stating anyone who dies from them "doesn't know how to avoid them or play against them lol", but that's not the case.

I do try to enjoy PvP when I play it, but the sheer amount of people using OP weapons and infamous techniques makes it a difficult task.

i tried pvp once --- the cloaking thing did it for me. i think i am capturing a flag and then the next second i am dead from an invisible wookie. no thanks

    Infectors mostly,
I used to hate Boomers but blast shield and blur fixed that.

Oh and cloak so much cloak.

Well since my first post I have ran a bit more waterfront matches and one freight yard, and honestly it wasn't that bad.

Freight Yard was the first and it went pretty much as I expected it too, spot an opponent try to kill them and end up eating dirt with me doing little harm to them. So I'd try a different load out, swap weapons so on and same thing for about I don't know six to eight times. Then I started to get the hang of things and ended up with 2 kills 2 assists with probably 3 to 4 more deaths of my own lol.

So after that Just did some more tweaking to my so called pvp load out and ran some Waterfront where my K/D was actually in the positives. But it wasn't really about winning as it was just having fun, yeah I got shot with an infector, people bunny hopped, and there was invisible guys. But I survived all attacks by an infector (never got the full screen block). Cloaking I don't mind, I could spot them a few times and I was using it myself as well. Bunny hopping didn't seem game breaking to me, I mean the mobs move and twitch around a lot more than hoppers so I could follow well enough. Plus, any FPS has hoppers so it's nothing new.

But to the OP, I do agree with you said in your later post. While I'm by no means an expert pvper now, I did find it hard to get in matches when I could complete about 3 arkfalls before one pvp match, even waterfront which is the least amount of players needed. I think that Trion could do something with the match making as even the quick match just seemed to stick you in one group rather than keeping you open for any of them.

Imbalances, I don't know. I didn't have any problems with them after some tweaking. I will agree with the infectors blocking your view isn't good, but everything else seemed ok to me. Again I do stress this is only after four or five games so very limited experience thus far. I do know that I had to change my PvE mindset completely and do some PvE taboo things for the PvP loadout but.. I'm seeing success.

My clan does a lot a pvping so tactics and all can be done, but on the same hand the teams to me seem to be random? I'm not fully sure on this, if a group goes in do they stay on the same team? And can say 24 guild mates sign up for Freight Yard and all be on the same team?

Anyway, so enough rambling. PvP wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and will most likely be doing a few matches daily now. That said, it does have issues that could be worked out at the same time, mostly I think with how it's set up in match making and grouping.
