I don't play PVP much because I find it very suspect with the cheats/hackers etc that play it, I would rather play co-op and enjoy myself.

To PVE players, Why don't you PVP?

    Simple... because it sucks

PvP aint that bad, its not great as well but still ok. Sure most ppl use Cloak, but since most use it, its an equal fight. You shoot someone when youre cloaked, you get shot by a cloaker. Infectors are annoying, then again they dont do a lot of damage basicly. Reason i dont play PvP that much is because i suxx at it. I play every now and then for my contracts, but i dont want to make a whole team lose cause of my presence so i keep it to a minimum. I can run around for hours in PvE without going down, even with these Volge around, no problem. But in PvP i tend to get shot before i even spawned lol.

Also the reason why i loved playing shooters like Borderlands and Rage, i want a good 'lenghty' storyline and like in BL2 a great co-op system. Also why i dont play CoD or BF. Short and lazy storylines that you finish within 5 hours (for 60 bucks WTF?!? Greedy bastages!). A whole game based on the multiplayer (PvP), and ppl buy it and claim it to be the best thing ever lol. A few limited maps, throw some ppl in it that paid too much money for a little bit of work, occassionally bring out a new map (for again too much money), and make sure to release a new version each year for another 60 bucks. Main reason for not playing PvP that much, both TDM-maps are too limited , fights take place in the same spots everytime, and it makes me feel like im playing a 'cheap' game like BF or CoD (which i really really REALLY hate.. both of them!)

My $0.02: I'm a PvE player who jumped in last night to try a match.

I quickly found out that my assault rifle load out was shtako in PvP, and basically spent the entire match dead, usually from boomers or infectors. Cloakers popped out of nowhere and I was simply overwhelmed.

I'll probably try again with a better load out , but I get the feeling that a PvE play style of sitting back, using cover and grinding through mobs is mutually exclusive with the PvP gameplay.

It took major adjustment I am a COD and BF player. I have never played halo and I think the cloak and decoy and blur is idiotic as is the lack or gravity and the bunny hoppers. Nothing worse that the infector bugs filling up my vision.. BUT I am not a quitter. So while I would get 0 ills at first I did not give up or sit and moan. I went back learned the spawns and maps which is the key to any MP. I settled with the gun I used most of the game and my play style adjusted to get used to hopping people and non aim weapons. Now I often get plenty of kills come close to the top of the leaderboard. I only play if clan people want to or to do my dailys. I would play more though it the wait times were not bad.
I think PVP sucks but I think most people not wanting to play do not like losing.
I don't mind losing in a fair fight but PVP is not and not matter what others will say it is mainly full of cheats, hackers and people who have all day to hone their skills not for a casual gamer like me.

PvP loadout is completely different to PvE.

Skill does matter, but if any of the good PvP players took their PvE loadouts into PvP, they'd do worse. Some of my 4K friends regularly need to be revived in Co-Op maps but are a royal pain to kill in PvP.

If you're new to PvP, here's my advice
Focus your loadout on how you're going to get kills.
Surviving for the next kill is not as important as getting some kills to begin with.
All the pursuits are about getting kills - under specific scenarios.
There's nothing in the pursuits about K/D ratio, kill streaks, etc...

So on that point, to get kills, classically, it's about dealing lethal damage to the other player before he does the same to you. So the more damage you can do in one go and the more damage you can take in one go - it will give you an advantage.

So that respark shield you love in PvE, comparted to a Rhino / Ironclad with 300+ better capacity means that opponents can break your shield and get to your juicy HP quicker. The difference is higher at higher Ego. At 4k, I think resparks are around the 1300 mark and Rhino / Ironclad are around 1900 mark conservatively. 600 pts of dmg difference is massive.

It's also the reason why Fortitue and Thick Skin are so imporant in PvP. I read elsewhere, fortitue makes your HP about 1500. Thick skin lets you take half damge after shield break for 3 seconds. That means your effective HP just became 3000.

And if you can, get Rear Guard. People attacking you from behind in cloak is going to happen. It sucks but your survivability will go up a lot with Rear Guard. To kill you, they need to do 1000+ dmg to get past your shield. Then 3000HP to kill you... all at -30% dmg.

My last bit of advice is to stick together with other people in your team.
It becomes exponetially harder for an individual as they face off against more and more people.
At 2 v 1, that one person has to do twice as much damage AND survive twice as much manage to win. It's not twice as hard.. it's 4 times as hard.
Most cloakers are going to hesitate ambushing a pack of opponents.

    Okay.. one more last thing...
Infectors and cloak make it easier to produce results in PvP. Unles you have a personal issue with using it yourself; use it if you feel you need to. I rather have more cloak shotgun / infector users (becaues they need it) in PvP so that games actually pop than wait ages to try complete my echelon contract.

    Gah... another last thing...
If your playing Oceanic times... Join CORE and get on teamspeak.
Most of the strong PvP players during Oceanic times are on CORE and we'll help you out.
If they can help a scrub like me complete all my PvP pursuits, we can help you too.

Oh... And to the super strong PvP players in Oceanic... don't use your uber builds unless you need to. I've spoke to other CORE members about it and want to extend it to the other strong players not in CORE.

Noone enjoys getting smashed all the time and I know you don't enjoy PvP without some challenge. The weaker / newer PvP players can't suddenly get strong to match you.. so if you want to nurture PvP during Oceanic, it's up to you to tone down and / or try out different builds you're not practised in. Doesn't matter how strong you are individually; if PvP doens't pop, you can't complete your contracts either.... well at least I can't!

Simplest answer. I just don't PvP in anything if I can avoid it.

But the few times I do PvP...all you find is exploiters doing what ever they have to, to be on top. Even if it means breaking game mechanics by using them in ways that was not intended. Or find some map glitch they can use as a one way shield. And to top it off is all the elitists that expect everyone to be elitists. Now Grifers, those only come into play in Open World PvP...but they are always present in any form of PvP as they only way they find to have fun is making others lives miserable.

PvE and PvP will always be different environments. I don't mind either, but I can hardly last more than 2-4 matches in Defiance. The only 'fun' I can find in PvP is Shadow Wars for bolt-action sniper kills. Its nice for the occasional break from PvE.

PvP is OK, but I find that there are too many annoyances for it to even be enjoyable.

OK so from what i can gather from all this so far is that of there were better rewards, it wouldn't help drive PVP?

I agree there needs to be a better cloak detection system than limiting the EGO power to Decoy only, and infectors are a pain but i don't think enough to not play PVP. Just get a ranged wep and kill them. Explosions are always going to be there so whatever just be more aware of surroundings.

Now that all perk slots are available at 1000 EGO should allow for a more balanced style of play.

I guess i wanted to see why people who PVE loath PVP so much since I personally find it enjoyable and challenging and annoying at the same time. Bit overall i like it. I wanted to see what the communities consensus was on an overall level, i may make a poll for fun to see what numbers come out of it, but yeah i guess all arguments are valid since everyone is different but I wonder still if rewards were better would people spend more time trying to play better, play more pvp and perhaps deal with annoyances as the rewards would be worth the effort.
