So, Defiance ISNT St. Louis? How...

EDIT (7/27): Im leaving all posts unedited as they have been. But i wanted to add apparently i had been using some aweful maps. Perhaps the districts of St. Louis can extend out (hence why i was thinking West) But the Arch is right on the river, and the Defiance Map is right, being right on the river.

I did find it interesting enough that there is an existing Defiance, in Missouri, lol, so i bumped this. Now i wonder why St. Louis got changed to Defiance, when it already exists... Interesting.

    OP:
Bear with me... But in order for Defiance to be St. Louis, according to maps ive seen, St. Louis will have had to move during Terraforming almost 150 miles EAST (roughly)...

So based on this 2046 Map of NA http://www.defiance.com/en/series/wo...-2046/2046-map... Defiance is located near/on what we can assume is the Mississippi River, and located directly SOUTH of what we know is Lake Michigan... When actually St. Louis is ~150 miles WEST of the Mississippi, and located in a Southwest direction of Lake Michigan, not directly south:

It also appears the Mississippi source water has been... diverted, for lack of a better description and only guessing... from the west of the Great Lake (prev. Lake Superior), to the southern tip of the Great Lake (Prev. Lake Michigan)...

I think the map they put out on the website is meant to look like its been drawn by hand based on old world (pre-pale wars) and what is there now. So some deviation makes sense, 150ish miles in comparison to the size of America is fairly accurate.

Or maybe, just maybe, trion misplaced a dot.

Also, part of what you are calling the Mississippi is the Wabash.

But seriously, Trion has an emergency spawn in the side of a mountain in Mt. Tam, they just misplaced a dot.

Its all up for interpretation of course, but its too wrong for my liking to just say "Ok, Defiance is St. Louis"... I'm not saying I cant accept "St. Louis got terra-moved". If terraforming can bury a city, why cant it be moved? 150 miles isnt much when lands are forming/de-forming.

its more the location on the map of Defiance being ON the 'Mississippi' that makes me wonder is all. You know if you live on/near a major landmark, and where you would put yourself on the map when making one... I.E. I know im south of Boston, and west of the Cape. I may not get it exact, but I know i wouldnt mark myself as Boston, or near the 'arm' that sticks out of Massachusetts.

and FWIW, it may not be the Mississippi, i get that, its just a general landmark... but, remembering somewhat now the battle with the Volge from Ep 1, doesnt Nolan scout the Volge going over a bridge? and the battle area seemed somewhat mountainous. (geologically thinking, it'd be somewhat rocky on both sides of the river, but apparently more so on the East, with a lesser grade on the West/Defiance-side of the river)

Which goes with the map, as there is markings for mountains on the East side of the river. I dont recall which, if it was said, direction the Volge were coming from.

By that logic, if the Jersey Shore has the Empire State Building, its New York City?

who cares about the technicalities of the location/distance. Im sure they will think of something. Just like the "it looks nothing like san fran due to terra forming"

If Jersey shore has the empire state building and is built on top of the ruins of New York City, then yes, it is New York City, end of story.

Buildings aren't freaking legos, you can't just pick them up and move them and expect them to hold together. ****, you can't even do that with legos more often than not.

Tough to break this and the 'St. Louis Arch' argument.

it's easier to misplace a dot. Hell, the programmers do it all the time, and we get glitches....
