I wish I had known that the PC version was far superior to the PS3 version ergo I would have saved $60.

nothing new but just repeating the Tap [E] verses the Hold [E] issue. Have no idea how bad I cursed myself out the moment I figured it out. All those times running around stopping to get a new weap then popping open my inv to get the current one back into the slot for use. No seriously... It was like Ego 9hundo or so b4 I figured it out...

Same here regarding E, always annoyed me that I'd have to go straight into my inventory and re-equip the weapons I'd chosen.
Hehe, well I am a complete noob and also a bit thick so I need all the help I can get which is why I posted this thread. When I started playing it took me several minutes to work out w=forwards!!! Oh dearie me.
Oh yes, this, definitely this! I'd hardly played any shooters since the old id games eg Doom on pc in the nineties (yes I am old deal with it). So the set up these days, with 360 aim, mouse control, moves other than strafe and jump, and a gazillion weapons etc is v. different.Originally Posted by Arrielle Shaw

Yes, the timer thing is bizarre, I mean...why? But then the whole weapon vs weapon type xp thing is pretty odd.Originally Posted by zeroknightdx
Thanks so much for all the posts guys, I am learning. Sorry I didn't get to reply to each, I am having issues with multiquote. It seems to mean "one quote" for me.
Just uninstall the game already...
*Buys the game, tears thru it from alpha stage to present, b!tches about the lack of content, then sits in the forum dropping fanboi pejoratives when anyone comes along and talks about Defy in a positive light*
Way to be hip & edgy...

I replied to another guy in a different thread, but I'll post this here as well:
-- When you first start playing, and have obtained a vehicle (part of the first main mission or two), drive. All over the map. Unlock as many fast travel spots as you can. That way you'll have all these extra vendors you can shop at.
-- Don't waste valuable inventory space on crappy white/green mods in the beginning. It will be a while before you can fully use them, and truthfully, you'll be able to land better mods as vendor specials by then anyway. Chances are, you'll need the money/salvage more.
-- If your inventory space fills up and you do a major ark fall, or open a lockbox, but don't see your weapons fear not -- just go into the Store, then on the bottom left-hand corner, click 'Claim Items.' Your stuff should be there. It's an overflow box.
-- If you find a gun you really like, don't sell/salvage it until you find a better one. Even then, you may want to keep it around, just in case. This is especially true of some of the rarer guns out there that folks tend to like -- certain SMGs, VBI TACC ARs, and *especially* SAWs. I have found one blue syphon SAW, at around level 800. I'm now 2300 and I still have it and use it daily. Don't think you'll find another one later on. There's a chance you might not.
-- Some people have great luck with lock boxes. Some people have horrible luck with lock boxes. Some people swear by T3s or T4s. Some people find a decent amount of orange (legendary) weapons. Some have been playing since launch and have found none. Be optimistic, but try not to let it get to you if you don't find an orange weapon. They're really not all that spectacular, and what's worse, your first orange could be a weapon you hate.
-- Respark shields are great and are the preferred shield of many players. They take lower damage, but the recharge time is wonderful. Basically, something can knock out your shield but you only need to take cover for a few secs before it's fully back again. With other shields, you'd have to dodge/roll/jump/cover for up to 9 seconds before it starts regenerating.
-- Guilds. We call them clans here. Clans are great when you want people to play with, talk with, help you out with missions, etc. The larger clans also hold special events weekly and will help you get the clan pursuits. They basically make the game seem less lonely. We have a whole section for clans here. Take a look around at the various threads, browse some of their websites and see if they're what you're looking for.
-- Two vendors have specials on vehicles. The one at Headlands and the one at Iron Demon. This will save you some scrip, since most all the normal vehicle colors cycle through these. And they sell for 1/2 off the normal cost from the vehicle vendors.
-- You cannot blow up/kill/damage 'it' by the Golden Gate bridge. It's part of the main mission. If you'd like to go to San Fran, but haven't gotten past 'it' yet, make friends with someone who's been to San Fran. Have them go there. Click on your friend's name in your friends list. Click 'Go to friend.' Make sure you check in at Coit Tower and the Overpass to unlock fast travel points. Problem solved.
-- There is a white bar under your weapon icon on the main game screen in the lower left-hand corner. This is your overall weapon level. (SMGs, Shotties, LMGs, etc.) When this bar fills up, your overall weapon level will go up. You can check your levels on your stats page. To make this go up, you have to level individual weapons in the same category. Click on a weapon you've used in your inventory screen. In the item's stats box, you will see a white bar under it. This is the individual weapon's XP. Once the individual weapon's XP has been maxed, it will no longer contribute to the overall weapon level. So, you either need to find another weapon of the same class to replace it, or you can simply reset the weapon's XP in the salvage matrix. Otherwise, you're wasting XP that could be contributing to bettering your skills. (Each new level earned will be a boost to the weapons you use.)
-- Don't be afraid to ask for help with a mission. Even if you're standing around at a vendor. There are a few missions that are solo-only. But most allow for grouping. I've helped complete strangers with a mission after they asked for help after an ark fall.
Thank you so much Opus for typing that out (even if you originally typed it for some other thread, thank you for pasting it here). You are an angel!
Haha, I just spent ten minutes trying to kill It before reading this. Oh well. Interesting you can get round it by having a friend in the area, thanks for the tip.
Having to equip your perks to use them. Don't know how I missed that for so long.
Using the Defiance Store Claims Page to save up rewarded items.
Using the vendor sell/buy back options as virtual storage for 10 more inventory spaces (careful, if there's 10 already in there selling one more will make one item disappear forever!)
