They do listen to their community. Those changes take time though. They're not instantaneous.

Its not necessarily the game, but the people that reside here. You're mixing the shooter crowd with the RPG crowd. The former generally has a shorter attention span/less patience and the latter generally has all the time in the world. If you want examples of the two check out the Gears of War forums for the shooter side and the Bethesda forums for the RPG side. There is a considerable difference in how each group treats their fellow forumites.

That being said, what you're seeing here is the vocal minority. Those few gamers that are having issues and actually feel like saying something about it. Is all that they're saying well-founded on concrete facts? No, but then again there are some that are legitimately having major issues and are frustrated by it. Those are the people that you'll see most active here.

Happy gamers are quiet gamers after all.

Its comparable to sex actually. There's a reason your GF/Wife is usually generally quiet after you're done. If she's not then you didn't do your job.

    Y'all whine too much.

    You get the point.

EDIT: And please don't tell me that you ignored the entirety of my post just because of that one oversight.

No, I was battling but I agree with about 60% of what you said because Honestly i'm a shooter but I prefer MMO's but I'm not gonna stick around unless I see a improvement.

Sorry since they have officially stated this is NOT an MMO at E3 this game is now as big of a joke as those whom helmed this red light district reject. I mean they actually took content AWAY. You know stuff people wanted to REMAIN? Sorry total joke now. be back in of July for the content I paid for. Only reason I am coming back.

Let us assume that the people posting here are a vocal minority. This is not detract from the issues they post. Nor does it reflect the number of people that have left because of the issues.

When the game first released, anything negative was met with a slue of posts from fanboys attempting to shame them into silence. Over the last 4 month, I have noticed that many that have posted issues have left the game, many of the fanboys are now posting about the same issues they berated others for posting, and fanboys...well, they are few and far between.

My point is that the game is not just failing to retain the RPG or the TPS crowd, but both. They are attempting to marry 2 diametrically opposed gaming ideas, and failing at both. It is better to do one thing well then many things poorly as can be seen by the critics and player reviews.

Many of the issues you claim Trion is listening too were known and discussed prior to the game even being released. Others are the direct result of Trion attempting to milk the players for more money buy attempting to force them to buy Bits. Not to mention that number of issues Trion has created by forcing out bug ridden patches while broke more then it fixed.

Trion had A LOT of time to work out the issues. It is called development. If they needed more time, they should not have released a not-so-polished turd. You can not expect the players to be patient when Trion was obviously not patient in their cash grab. Trion Defiance has basically went out of their way to make every wrong decision possible, and even if we assume they have somehow mangically turned a 180, you can not blame the players for not just being skeptical but being impatient. After all, Trion did not wait to take their money.

I think the minority has shifted to happy gamers who post less and less.
People have no other recourse to complain and while some do not do it in a positive way. Others do attempt to make feedbac polite and detailed.

I never said that it did detract from them. Issues are still issues regardless of who or how they are posted, but how they are posted and who they are posted by can make a world of difference in regards to who listens and how quickly it is listened to.

I remember that. It was entertaining to say the least, and I remember being one of those fanboys for a short period of time. Some problems were more excusable then because of the infancy of the game. MMOs are a little different than most games and a lot of the bugs can't actually be found/worked out until after the game has been released. Single player games are easier to work out because you've only got one person playing at a time, not 100s of 1000's all playing on a complicated network of servers and server clusters.

I'll have to disagree with you there. Borderlands did the same thing and turned out relatively well. The only thing new that this game is doing that Borderlands didnt is run alongside a TV show.

Nothing about this game forces you to buy bits. Its not a "pay to win" game like ME3 eventually became. I remember throwing down a couple hundred total to ME3's RNG store because I got frustrated with the lack of items that I needed showing up in packs. That was my own fault and I played right into their strategy.

Whether intentional or not the same goes for Defiance. Some players will get frustrated because they're not getting the great weapons that they see others with and will buy bits in an attempt to remedy this. Is this Trions fault? Kinda sorta. They did make the RNG store yes but even thy don't entirely know what will come out of it. All in all you're not "forced" into buying bits. Its your choice to do so.

Contrary to popular believe Trion didn't have a whole lot of say in the release date. SciFi channel had them locked into a date with their advertising for the show. Had this game not been run along side a show then yea, I'd be more apt to agree with you on that point.

On a final note people will always be impatient. Its that entitlement age that we've come to live in. I did A so I should automatically get B, C, D, and E even though this person had to work for them and I didn't. That is to say that I am not belittling the actual problems, because there are problems and they are numerous, but they are not gamebreaking. At least Trion is attempting to fix them. Same can't be said for Bethesda. Just ask them about that gamebreaking bug with Surana in the Dawnguard DLC and why they won't be fixing that.

On this forum I agree with that. The ratio of disgruntled gamers to happy gamers on these forums I'd confident in saying is a 5/1 ratio at this point. Like I said though, unless a major problem arises many gamers just don't seek out the forums. Why? Because they're content.

Trion bit off more than they could chew. Period.

And now as consumers, we've been left holding the proverbial bag, with expectations unmet & a game so void of content that a 10 yr old could complete this game in a few short weeks. [No offense to 10 yr olds]
